Toilet Paper Tube Birdy Gift Tags Or Party Decor

With Purim coming up on Saturday night, I started making really fun egg carton portrait gift tags, only the later ones came out so well I really can't give them away, so I was looking for something super cute but just a bit less precious, and these toilet paper roll birdies fit the bill! I'll be attaching them to the top of a cellophane wrapped plate of goodies with a ribbon or piece of string attached to the head I think, and then folks can use them as holiday decor on their table, or if they end up in the garbage, gasp it isn't the end of the world. I made 20 of these and they are now all si ..read more

Last week I shared with you my toilet paper tube birdy gift tag , and now I'm sharing a few photos to show you how I used it! Truthfully, while I am not a fan of cellophane, that is the gift wrap of choice here in Israel, so sometimes you just gotta go with the flow......of course I'd prefer a lovely cardboard box with a clear window, but finding that, and buying it, well that is just not my normal course, as I'm all about recycling. Ah yes, though maybe I need to make my own take-out boxes from cornflakes boxes, now that is an idea, maybe next year? This year I used a lovely metallic gold pap ..read more

Egg Carton Fox Portraits Craft

So friends, it turns out that egg carton animal portraits are so very very fun to make, I just had to keep going after the leopard egg carton animal portraits craft that I shared with you last week. I went on to make a bunch of lions, like the one here, and then, flipped the egg carton over and made a set of egg carton fox portraits with the more angular side of the carton. Of course, now I'm envisioning a whole wall full of egg carton animal portraits, though fortunately if they are using egg cartons I won't be able to vary the size too much, with the exception of possibly making the whole eg ..read more

To get kids really excited, you need to get them involved, and there’s no better way to do this than by getting their creative juices flowing! And of course my specialty happens to be capturing a child's attention with homemade decorations and crafts, and even craft activities for little guests. With Purim coming up in just a few weeks now is a great time to think about some fun crafts for guests to make at the party, or even to make yourself to give as party favors or decor. And what better idea for the holiday that involves dressing up in costumes than to make fun animal masquerade style mas ..read more

I am so excited to share with you this recycled craft that is made entirely of recycled materials, with the exception of hot glue! Let me introduce a fun craft project for all ages: woven plastic bottle baskets using plastic bags. These little baskets are perfect for Purim or any of your spring celebrations, and so much fun to make! I used 1.5 liter soda bottles as that is what we have on hand, but certainly one can make much larger baskets using much larger bottles. So gather up those plastic bags, and those recycled bottles and lets get started! Oh, and just by the way, I also made some 'gra ..read more

Ready to practice your painting and drawing skills and make the funnest winter themed gift box ever? What can I tell you, this one is a winner, not just the color combo, but the fun artful style, and the fact that it looks much more complicated than it really is! This winter clothes theme came about because I painted an ugly sweater for Chanukah, and then a graffiti ski cap, so mittens were a natural fit for my theme, and mittens with pom poms, is there anything cuter? So whether you follow my technique or not, do think about packaging your gifts this year in recycled containers that you've re ..read more

Turn Plastic Bag Pompoms Into Fruit For Tu B'Shevat Craft

I've been wanting to make fruit from plastic bag pom poms for a few good years now, and it finally happened, and I just love them. Now if only I had plastic bags in orange and yellow, well things would be even more festive. Plastic bag pom pom fruit can be great hung as a mobile in a child's room, used as party decor for a fruit themed party, or of course made to celebreate Tu B'Shevat, the Jewish new year for fruit bearing trees, which is why I made these! Right now I have plastic bag pom poms hanging over my dining room table, and while I had planned to add these to the mix it was looking a ..read more
