The Stately Calm Within

The university was closed for summer break, the professors too burned out after two years of teaching during the pandemic to even consider teaching summer school. Nonetheless, I trusted that the side door to the Hogwarts-lookalike structure that led directly up two flights to my imaginary professor’s office would remain mysteriously unlocked and, as always, it did! I raced up the stairs and turned the knob on the door to his likewise ever-open office to find it sadly unoccupied, before my eyes even registered the sign hanging from the doorknob that read— “GONE FISHING.” He was messing wit ..read more

Not One Spot of Darkness
Forays In Forgiveness Blog

“Not one illusion is accorded faith, and not one spot of darkness still remains to hide the face of Christ from anyone.” (acim Text Chapter 31, paragraph 12, line 5) I knelt on the carpet in our upstairs hallway in the semi darkness, holding the little infrared flashlight I’d scored on Amazon along with the expensive enzymatic spray carpet cleaner guaranteed to remove all remnants of odor from pet urine stains. My little dog Morgan had been expressing his disapproval of the routine-and-boundary bashing events of the last few months via his bladder. His acting out had become a habit that all ..read more

A Conversation with Rosemarie LoSasso: Healing our mind one day at a time
Forays In Forgiveness Blog

Rosemarie LoSasso worked closely with Kenneth and Gloria Wapnick for decades, editing his books and audios and teaching at the Foundation for A Course in Miracles  from its earliest days in the 1980s until her retirement from the Foundation in 2018. I talked with her again recently about practicing A Course in Miracles in the classroom of our lives. I hope you will find our conversation and her gentle, practical wisdom as helpful to your practice as I have!    The pandemic has been such a challenging classroom for everyone. I felt like I had made some real progress over the year ..read more

The Time of Rebirth
Forays In Forgiveness Blog

The skeletal branches of towering trees groaned in the wind as I crunched through the snowy quad in the semi-darkness of the deserted campus. I pushed on the doors to the comparative religions building, surprised when they gave way, and slipped on my mask. My imaginary inner professor had taken up invisible residence in a vacant office in this stone building some years ago, a symbol of the light still shining in all minds tucked away among hallways of darkness leading nowhere. I made my way up the stairs holding tight to the railing, my hands protected from cold and COVID by the mittens my pup ..read more

Salvation’s Secret
Forays In Forgiveness Blog

“Weekends are the worst,” I repeated, on yet another late Friday afternoon. In case he hadn’t heard me the first dozen or so times. My imaginary inner professor sat playing with my puppy Morgan on the grass of the nearby park to which I had fled all summer when the going got rough as it inevitably did. Ignoring me, actually, like everyone else on this planet motoring through indifferent space. Dodging God knows what new celestial torpedoes aimed from lightyears away in its general direction. “Have I mentioned I barely made it through last weekend?” I asked. Above his mask, his brows shot up th ..read more

Finding Our Way Home

“It’s just that it seems ironic, don’t you think, the way Morgan won’t walk away from our house and yard, while I would give anything to get away anywhere for even a few hours!” Above the cloth mask he wore to meet me in the embodied condition I think I’m in, my imaginary inner professor’s brows shot up the way they do. But his eyes, as always, remained steady and kind. Somehow, I had finally found my way back to his office in the deserted university far, far above and beyond the burning horrors of this world. This ongoing nightmare of a global pandemic, “our” country continuing to fracture fr ..read more

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

“I place the Future in the Hands of God,” I read, gazing down at the phone in my hand at A Course in Miracles workbook lesson 194, one of my least favorite lessons. At my feet, my new puppy Morgan continued to chew on my clogs, now and then pausing to nip at my ankles and heels, as I sat on the cement wall of the flower bed beneath an oak tree a few blocks from home where I inevitably ended up nearly every day. Soaking in the panoramic view of the Front Range it so generously delivered, tinseled now with the last strands of snow. Above the battleground, so to speak, only without my inner Teach ..read more
