Hi, I'm Reeves, a twenty-something interior design and furniture lover fixing up furniture whenever I have the chance! I started this blog for a school project my senior year of high school to update pictures and steps of pieces I have done. My interest in upcycling and repurposing began a couple of years prior. The first project I did myself was turning an old, weathered door into my..

The One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home started this week and it’s coinciding with my parents bathroom remodel. In all honesty I don’t know how this will go. You have 6 weeks to complete 1 room from start to finish. My parents guest bathroom renovation was scheduled right at the start of the One Room Challenge and so why not get it all done in 6 weeks??
This project is years in the making. The material selections have not been easy. She and I selected and went in six different directions before finally settling on the current plan and just deciding to keep things simple ..read more

Hi Friends! As a furniture refinisher I come across well-used and sometimes beat up pieces that require repairs more often than not. I see anything from small scrates on furniture tops to chunks of wood missing on corners or cross supports. Today I’m going to share how I used Bondo instead of wood filler for furniture repairs and how they compare.

Bondo All-Purpose Putty/Body Filler
For large repairs Bondo Body Filler is the best product I have found. It’s actually made for auto body repairs but works great as a wood filler. This product ..read more

It’s been too long since I’ve updated and even longer since this work has been started. This is me sharing remodel updates, mostly for myself (but also for my nagging family members). I’m sharing photos of the progress that has been made while also document the craziness that has gone on. This is just the beginning of the remodel.
Prior to moving in I had 3-4 weeks where my apartment lease overlapped with the possession of my townhome. This allowed me, with the amazing help of my family, to paint, tear-out carpet and somewhat put back together the upstairs portion of my place so that I could ..read more

Hello friends!
It’s been a while since been posting on here but I have some new updates and projects that I have been working on. Last summer into fall I was house hunting while knowing the lease on my apartment would be expiring end of the 2019. It felt a little crazy but was a fun process for me. After a bunch of searching I found and closed on a new home!
I was lucky enough to have a few weeks of overlap with my apartment (I ended up moving out 1 month early) so I was able to get started on projects and updates prior to moving in. I’ll share more about those in the coming weeks (there ..read more

It’s finally time for the guest bathroom reveal. This space is far from its blue beginnings. A new grey and white color scheme keep things neutral and calm while letting the not-so permanent pieces stand out. In case you missed it here is a reminder of what where the bathroom started out week 1 of the One Room Challenge.
Watch some of the transformation here:

Welcome back to the week 5 update for the One Room Challenge. Check out the blog posts and updates for week 1, week 2, week 3, and week 4 if you missed them. It’s crunch time now and I’ll be honest… I don’t know that this project will be completely wrapped up for the reveal date. The great thing is the reveal and hitting a deadline is not the only goal of reason for this challenge. Ultimately having a fully functional and hopefully beautiful bathroom is where we want to end up even it things are a bit delayed.

Here’s an update about what was happening during week 4 of the One Room Challenge. If you missed it you can see the before photos in the week 1 update, see how demo went during the week 2 update, and how tile install was coming along week 3.
After the tile install started and there was a hault because of a squeaking tub. Install was almost complete except for the niches, 2 pieces of bullnose for the floor base and grout which were delayed because of the tub situation. Over the weekend we were able to install and level the cabinet. This had to be done so that the fabricator could come and ..read more

Things are moving along with the tile install. There were some hiccups to overcome along the way, but it’s coming together now. Before we dive in you can check out the Week 1 update with before photos and see what was happening in Week 2.
Tile install started later than we anticipated. That’s the nature of the beast and the scheduling in this market. Projects can take longer than expected and dealing with problems as they arise sometimes results in setbacks and late starts. Prep was done on Monday. The framing for the niches went in and then 1/2″ backer board went up on the walls and 1/4 ..read more

The past week has been focused on getting everything out. We first started with the tile around the tub. With the taped on soap dish and uneven tub we weren’t surprised to find that water was getting behind the tile. Plus, the tile was on drywall. The only great thing about that was it made the tear out simple. My dad used a Dremel to cut arou ..read more
