Somewhere in the course of the past year, our family switched from eating in the ‘formal’ dining room to our breakfast nook for most meals. It’s barely been a month since we finished the renovation of our basement, but I’m already thinking about the next big project: our attic! Currently a completely unfinished space, we’re going to tackle this one in phases. First, the roof has to be replaced, which is happening in June. After that, we plan on adding the basics: new electrical, insulation, walls, and – my favorite bit – flooring. When it comes to house tours, sometimes I like to save the best part for last. But in the case of this fabulous beach house designed by Tamsin Johnson, I had to lead with my favorite part of the home, as it’s perhaps the best display of chic, restrained beach house whimsy that I have ever seen. This indoor/outdoor room is literal perfection with its sparse furnishings, and an ideal mix of modern lines with classic beach materials and decor.
