  Magdy Al-Husseini is an Egyptian keyboardist born in 1942 in the village of Beni Hussein located in the Governorate of Assiut in Upper Egypt.  He spent the first years of his life in his native village but later moved to Cairo due to the work commitments of his father, a professor of botany at the Faculty of Agriculture.  He came into contact with music at an early age; the musician Zakaria Ahmed, considered one of the pillars of the revival of Arab music, was in fact a friend of his father and occasional concerts in the family home were not unusual.
