We often get asked if you do requires pet insurance to attend doggy daycare. The answer is no however we would highly recommend it. I was recently speaking with a lovely owner who was telling me about her dog being taken in for surgery and they had no insurance. The surgery was going to cost thousands and naturally they were in a state of despair (wouldn’t be all be). When discussing this, she stated they had dogs for years and none of them ever got sick so insurance did not seem like a requirement. This is sadly a story I hear often and I see how much distress it can cause the owners. During ..read more

Let’s talk build up sessions. As many of you know the road to daycare can be a little windy and can take much patience however we endeavour to be the team for the job. Daycare can be quite an alien concept for our dogs. This being said, daycare is certainly not for every dog, as we have previously discussed. We as a business, pride ourselves on having a non-negotiable build up policy, meaning your dog must be gradually introduce ..read more

Let’s talk frisky business… Daycare can conjure a whole lot of emotion in your dog, this can range from excitement to anxiety. Each emotion will vary depending on the individual dog and their nature. Neither is right or wrong, simply the emotions that the dogs feel. As a result of these emotions, we can often see ‘frisky business’ take place in daycare. If you have ever seen your dog mounting or ‘humping’ in daycare, it isn’t always a cause for concern. Humping, or mounting behaviour, is a normal behaviour that can occur in dogs of all ages, genders, and breeds. It can be a sign of excitement ..read more

Welcome to the Dog Blog! Todays topic, Nero and his obsession with food. We all know Labradors can be pretty food driven but I can honestly say I have never met a dog like Nero (my, let’s say brother). Nero is now a 4 year old rolly polly little Labrador with a nature as soft as butter and a food obsession like you wouldn’t believe. The back story is, Nero was a surprise for my dad when he decided he wanted another dog. Upon visiting his wonderful breeder, I came across the smallest pup in the litter but by far the most loving. That was it, from that point I knew he was going to be part of our ..read more

Thank you to Robin K Bennett, we couldn’t have worded it better ourselves! My Dog Got Kicked Out Of Daycare Today July 21, 2013by//  by Robin Bennett I received an email the other day that started with, “My dog got kicked out of daycare today.”  It was from a dog owner I knew. She loves her dog and was looking for outlets for his energy.  She is a fantastic owner — the kind every dog trainer wants to meet. She was bonded to her dog, committed to his well-being, and loved to hear advice from pet professionals on how to improve her dog’s life. So she emailed me to find ..read more
