Day 4 of the cruise brought us to the port of Nassau. We took a poll of the family, and everyone decided we should spend the day exploring the boat, and skip the port. This was, at least partially, motivated by the recent Department of State Travel Advisory for the port. While we didn’t have a strong concern, related to that advisory, I think we were all just ready for a mellow day and doing some relaxing. Regardless, it is always a good idea to at least be aware of any Travel Advisory that may be in effect for your destinations. Duck… Duck… Goofy? We had brought some ducks along to hide on th ..read more

Castaway Cay ‘ish? I woke up to the boat vibrating and much more engine noise than normal. I figured we were docking and went back to sleep. Only some time later, to awake to the same noise and vibration still happening!? I got up to look outside quickly and only saw open water. I figured we must just be powering through some rough water, and went back to sleep. Finally, I was woken by an announcement from the captain across the in-room speakers. They had tried to dock 3 times, without success, due to strong currents. They were going to try 1 more time, otherwise we might have to skip the isla ..read more

Ok, the first thing you need to know is that this is for kids 11-13 (and parents of course), I recommend that you bring a phone with you, with the Disney Cruise App on it, as well as some games that work offline. You and your parents can text using the cruise app, and you can also view the day’s events there. Always check the schedule for the “Funnel Vision” and theater. Schedule for the day at The Edge As soon as you can, you’re going to want to go to The Edge (Use the map on the app), and to the right of the desk, it shows the day’s schedule. (Go to the bingo events, you won’t regret it!) Ta ..read more

Debarkation Day – San Diego, CA We had been assigned a breakfast seating of 7:30 am at Triton’s, but we opted to sleep a little later and eat at Cabanas. We had put out most of our luggage the night before, so we had mostly “carry-on” level luggage with us. After breakfast, they were starting to up the urgency of getting people off the boat. The sad walk off the boat We rode the elevators down to Deck 3, and the doors opened to a surprising level of chaos. This was our second cruise, so we didn’t have a lot of data points. However, this felt MUCH more chaotic than our cruise on the Magic. Ther ..read more

Ensenada, Mexico Our second port to visit was Ensenada. Leading up to our sailing, the weather forecast had indicated it would be cold and rainy. We had canceled a planned excursion at the port in anticipation of the weather. We decided to take the opportunity of a potentially empty ship and enjoy the amenities more. Port of Ensenada, Mexico, from the top deck of the Disney Wonder As you can see, the weather ended up being quite beautiful on that day! It was still quite cold, especially in the shade, but lots of wonderful sunshine. The kids opted to spend some time in the kid’s clubs, and Beck ..read more

Sea Day 2! Craft we made at the Oceaneers Club… our version of Forky in clay Day 4 of the cruise was another Sea Day on the Disney Wonder. After the big day in Cabo, we were pretty tired and took our morning slow and easy. We did some wandering around the ship, for the morning, taking some character photos. There was also an open house in the Oceaneers Lab, so we spent some time doing some crafts with the younger kids. We spent some time as a family, doing a couple of the trivia activities and one of the craft activities. All of these were free (included), and you could just show up to join th ..read more

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico We started day 3 with us pulling into the coast of Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, there isn’t a cruise port in Cabo, so we were required to “tender” to get to the port. If you have a port excursion booked with Disney Cruise Line, you will be told where to meet your group, as indicated in the DCL app. We were not in that case, so we were told to meet at the Walt Disney Theater at 9 am. We were given a sticker and asked to wait until a tender was available. It seems that the official excursions have priority of using the tenders, and people in our situation would fill in w ..read more

Sea Day! On Day 2 of our Disney Wonder voyage, it was a “sea day”, so no ports to visit. These are great days to explore the ship and try new things and check out some of the activities that are being offered. You’ll often find lots of trivia games, bingo, crafts, and more to choose from. We started off the morning with breakfast at Cabana’s, which becomes a very familiar place! Chances are, you’ll find something that appeals to your crew each day. After our crew was fed and happy, it was time to head towards the main atrium for the “Princess Gathering“. This is a pre-reserved/ticketed photo o ..read more

in 2022, our family took a cruise on the Disney Magic, which cruised around the Caribbean, and a “double-dip” at Castaway Cay! As a start to our 2023, we just returned from a trip with Disney Cruise Line, aboard the Disney Wonder, on 5-Night Baja Cruise, visiting Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico. This marks our second Disney Cruise Line vacation for our family! We’ll share some of our experiences, in hopes it might prepare others who are thinking of going on a similar voyage! San Diego View of the ship, from our hotel room The cruise started in San Diego, so we flew in the afternoon/evening ..read more
