Where does our fight and fire come from as women? Most recently, we have witnessed the awesome power of women in the sweeping #MeToo movement. This is a highly visible and global social movement for the recognition of women’s rights worldwide, built upon the many women who have come before us, fighting equally as fiercely. The recent movements have produced pink pussy hats, t-shirts, catchy slogans like #MeToo, in addition to caused real world actions, like the firing of top male executives. The women’s movement, associated with the feminist movements of the 1920s and 1970s, has gone through ..read more

What to do When Your QB is Getting Sacked Too Many Times

If your QB is getting sacked and holding the ball too long (taking too long to throw) and the defensive rush is just too strong and you can’t stop them from getting through you have to “move the pocket”. How do you move the pocket? Several ways; • Roll the QB to the right or left (have the QB immediately run to the left or right, • Run the ball, or • Throw screens/slants. I would suggest doing all of them. My least favorite is rolling the QB because it takes away half the field. If you roll right you are throwing right. Quick screens or slants are probably the most reliable and exactly what ..read more

How to Beat Woman to Woman Defense

There are many types of zone defenses in football but typically there are only a few woman to woman defenses. One type is that everyone is assigned a person and they will follow them all over the field all day. The other is a loose woman to woman where everyone lines up and takes the person in front of them so every play they could be taking someone new. Either one can have a safety or not. To beat a woman to woman defense you can either run “crossing routes” or do “double moves”. A crossing route is where two receivers run routes in which they will pass each other shoulder to shoulder. Why is it So Often the Parents in the Stands are the Worst Sports?

Why do they yell at refs and even worse the other team? Most of the time these are children playing. I have my own thoughts on this. First let me tell you about coaching my son’s third grade basketball team. There was a draft. However, the best two players’ dad’s coached together so they had their sons on the team. There were rules for playing the players so it would be even, coaches found loopholes. There was a rule that you couldn’t keep score, they did anyway. Why? Because they actually cared who won or lost a third-grade basketball game. This blows my mind. Most of the parents who ..read more

Connection is a vital part of the human experience. It allows us to love, share in one another’s experiences, and make special bonds with those of whom we call friends and family. Connection allows us to feel alive, and it helps us develop a feeling of acceptance. In today’s world, we seem to be on a downslide of connecting. I often ask myself, if something is so vital to many of us, then why are we losing touch with connecting to others, but more importantly, ourselves? For many of us, we long to belong, to fit in, and to b respected by our peers. Although we think of trying to fit in with t ..read more

How Should Your Team Start the Game?
International Women’s Flag Football Association Blog

Recently I was asked how a team should start off their flag football game: aggressive or at a pace? Flag Football is situational and momentum has a lot to do with the game. The short answer is neither. I want to start with the ball. I want good field position. Field position is a huge part of the game that influenced how “aggressive” you may be. I want to take what the defense gives me. If that’s down field…. fine. If it’s 3 yards in the flat….. fine. I would rather have a long drive, moving the chains, than a few big plays. While my offense is on the field….. the opponent can’t score. 80 p ..read more
