Six of NIMRA’s hardiest (and arguable best looking) fell runners were back on international duty this past weekend in Scotland to challenge at this year’s Senior Home Countries International. Ashley showing the boys how to dance Glas Tulaichean (Spittal of Glenshee)was the hill that would see Jack McKenna, Keith Johnston, Joshua McAtee, Ethan McMullan, Ashley Crutchley led into uphill battle by captain Ryan Stewart. Well…it happened… After weeks and weeks of rainy, high wind weekends the sun shone over the Mourne Mountains, and their magnetic charm drew runners from all corners of the Island to take part in the inaugural Granite peaks races. The 25k for those wishing for a new experience and the ultra for those experienced and looking for a new challenge. A fine start to the season for the NIMRA internationals! The 1st International trip of the season saw a x4 female and x5 male strong NIMRA team travel to Keswick, England to compete in the British Intercounties Senior Mountain race on 21/04/2024. This year’s race also doubled up as the British Athletics trial race for the  “up and down” event at the Senior European Off-Road Running Championships due to take place in Annecy, France from 31st May to 2nd June 2024.
