Thunderbird feels like a million years ago already, but it was by far the highlight of my summer! I started visiting TBIRD and capturing private clients in 2021, and it was truly a dream come true. My first year I had 3 clients, all of whom were friends of mine. Now I get to return every single year, with a full client list, and meet new faces every year. It will always be a pinch me moment to spend a week in such a beautiful moment, getting to do what I love. There are almost no words to describe the amazing venue of Thunderbird, the atmosphere, the horses, the arenas, the talent, the people ..read more

Boone’s story reminded me much of my own horse's. Just like Diesel, he was bred to be a cow horse - but his first career path didn’t quite work out, and he turned out to be an excellent jumper. It also reminds me of my own story, and I’m sure many of us out there, who are currently working in a field completely different than we went to school for. It’s a good reminder that no matter how many years you have invested in your path (in the case of our horses, it is generations of effort that has gone into breeding them to succeed on this path!), you can always change direction and do somet ..read more

Calgary Equestrian Maternity Portraits | Shelby, Jon & 4-legged family

Shelby is one of the kindest and welcoming people I have ever met and she quickly became a fast friend after being a repeat client many times over. So when she asked about having me photographer her maternity portraits with the horses, there was no way I could refuse - even if it was a little bit out of my wheel house. When I first met Shelby, she had moved to Alberta from out East. A few months later, I captured a Christmas Mini session with her and Jon, and it was obvious they had found something special in each other. Since then, they have built their lives together and now have welc ..read more

Graduation season is almost upon us again in Alberta and I am so excited to help more beautiful graduates immortalize this season and accomplishment in their lives. And that’s not even the best part - here at Reversed Eye Photography it just wouldn’t be a graduation session if the horse wasn’t included!   “I started leasing Rush around 4 months ago, so everything is still pretty new. However just in these couple months I have grown to love him so so much, probably more than I ever thought I could with a horse. I just love him and his goofy personality. One of my favourite memories ..read more

Because horses are far from graceful and beautiful creatures! The bloopers blog is always one of my favourite of the year, and collecting all these hilarious images never fails to make me laugh. Please enjoy my collection of favourite blooper images from 2023, complete with a ton of horse slobber, your fair share of “oh sh*t moments”, an excess of silly faces, human and horse alike, the occasional horse bum and sideways glance, and more grass hanging out of mouths than you will ever need to see in your life. This blog perfectly captures what it really means to have a photoshoot with you ..read more

A session deserving of a Valentine’s day blog post if there ever was one. This session was horse girl and fairytale vibes to the nines, sprinkled with a bit of Taylor Swift “Speak Now” magic. The pink and purple cotton candy skies just scream Valentine’s day to me ?? and Karlee and Ginger’s love was so obvious, it’s absolutely meant for the day that we celebrate all things love!   “I met ginger when I was 11 and she was 16! She was my first horse. The day i went to try her, she whinnied at me. I bought her that day. She’s taught me everything I known about riding and life too. She ..read more

Winter Equestrian Portraits with Wilma & Echo

The most common misconception I hear from people is that winter is not a good season for photos. While I love a beautiful summer evening or a fall afternoon as much as the next person, I don’t think anyone should be writing winter off too quickly! And if these beautiful images don’t convince you of that, let me tell you why… You get your pick of dates, and you don’t have to wait up late for a beautiful sunset! Winter will always be the least busy time for photographers, which means those who do book can pick their date from a pretty open schedule. Generally the photographer will be ab ..read more

Better late than never right? Almost a month into the new year but I couldn’t miss the chance to summarise this incredible year with you and share so many beautiful images! I know I say this every year but it really was a year for the books. There were plenty of new and exciting opportunities, including two equine maternity sessions and adding dog photography to my list of skills! I got to work with so many new people and groups, including the Canadian Warmblood Association (Alberta chapter). I accomplished one of my goals which was to photograph a session or event every single month of ..read more

Christmas Mini Session London & Benny

I met London years ago, in 2020, when my business was still in its early stages of getting off the ground. It was a lovely surprise to hear from her again last year and to get to capture a beautiful Christmas Mini Session with her beautiful gelding Benny. It was my first visit to the beautiful Blarney Stone Farms and it did not disappoint as a beautiful backdrop for gorgeous Christmas photos ? It was obvious that these two share a beautiful connection built on trust, as Benny was not very comfortable with all the Christmas decorations but his trust and confidence in London was obvious as she e ..read more

Getting to capture a partnership time and time again is one of my favourite parts of my job! This was my second time capturing the beautiful connection that Sheilagh and Guinness share, and it was just as wonderful the second time around. Sheilagh is always a delight to be around and her warm and friendly attitude certainly made it easier to bear this freezing cold day at Fire Horse Stables near Sherwood Park ? Though it may not have been a warm day, the warmth that exudes from these images is completely undeniable, absolutely perfect for a Christmas Card! If you’re starting to think about you ..read more
