Last year, the DutchMQG organized a super fun Block of the Month (BOM) project. This quilt featured a variety of designs, and I made it using many different fabrics. It turned out to be the perfect project to practice on the BERINA Q24. In this blog, I’ll tell you all about my first project with the Q24.
The First Steps
The BERNINA Q 24, what a machine! The Sugaridoo Studio was just wide enough for a classic frame, allowing to quilt a quilt up to 2.75 meters wide. The machine and its operation are similar to its smaller sibling, the Q16. Since I already had experience with the Q16, I could st ..read more

Here we go! The first row of the Between the Lines quilt along. I’m so excited to start this with you all.
Today we are making row 5, Rush Hour. The yellow figures reminded me a bit of a traffic jam seen from above, hence Rush Hour. Although our row in the quilt is, of course, much more colorful and cheerful than a traffic jam of cars.
New here?
Is this your first time seeing the Between the Lines QAL? And are you wondering if you can still join? Read all about it in this blog post!
You can definitely still join. Today we are starting with the first part of the quilt. We sew the rows in incre ..read more

Welcome to the last week of the Swiss Star Quiltalong, I’m so excited to share the final steps to making your quilt top.
The construction of Swiss Star is unique, rather than piecing the quilt top in rows or columns, it is built out from the middle, with the corners as the last addition.
Trimming the corners might the hardest part, but if you’ve got a long ruler, you’ll be fine.
Let’s get quilting!

Center Star Assembly
We completed our center star last week, and by now I hope you’ve fallen in love! I know it did, there’s something so beautiful and visually striking about a giant star.
This week we’re going to keep building outward from our star, eventually finishing the center square unit. Next week we will build out the corner triangles and trim, bu ..read more

Welcome back to the Swiss Star Quilt Along, where every stitch brings us closer to quilted Swiss Star perfection!
This week marks an exciting chapter as we dive into the creative process of crafting square-in-square units using the stitch and flip method.
Additionally, we’ll be assembling our center star which is the focal point for the quilt (and ohhhh so magical as you’ll see!).
