The University of North Alabama says that its lion mascot, Leo III, died on Thursday after a brief illness. “Leo III and his late sister Una were important members of the UNA family for many years," the university said. "We are greatly saddened by Leo’s passing." Leo III and Una were born in 2002 in New Hampshire, and they were flown to the university after six weeks.
