Last week, I spoke to a customer who returned to Ordoro after a brief but challenging affair with NetSuite. Here’s what happened. This customer had been using Ordoro for almost a decade. And during that time, they scaled their business several folds, processed thousands of orders through our shipping app, and tracked hundreds of products, kits, and bundles through our inventory app. Mid-last year, they felt like they had outgrown Ordoro, and decided to explore what else is out there. They encountered NetSuite, and the sales rep did a great job selling them on fancy bells and whistles. So, they ..read more

Amazon’s New Low Inventory Fee: What You Need to Know
Ordoro Blog

This week, Amazon implemented a new “low inventory fee” targeted at merchants utilizing FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) services. Here’s an overview of how this fee works and its implications for businesses. How this Fee Works Amazon’s system calculates the days of supply for each product stored in FBA, which involves dividing the stock level by the daily shipped quantity. If a product’s days of supply fall below 4 weeks (28 days) within both a 30-day and a 90-day window, the merchant is required to pay the low-inventory-level fee for that specific product. You can learn more about the fee here. Why ..read more

The $800 de minimis limit gives Temu and Shein a huge tax advantage over US-based ecommerce sellers. If you are unfamiliar with de minimis, here is what it means. When you import goods into the US, you can do it tax-free if the value is under $800. Temu/Shein benefit from this rule. Since they are shipping directly to you from the manufacturer in China. They don’t pay taxes on your orders below $800. Shein paid $0 in tariffs in 2022, while H&M paid $205 million, and The Gap paid $700 million. WSJ estimates that de minimis resulted in $67 billion less taxes. 1 The Background on De Minimis T ..read more

Just-In-Time (JIT) Inventory Strategy Makes a Comeback
Ordoro Blog
by Madison Worden

The Wall Street Journal reports a notable shift among retailers back towards the Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory management model, signaling a return to strategies that prioritize efficiency in operations.1 The main idea of JIT is that you push the inventory replenishment as close to the demand window as possible. For those of us passionate about inventory management, the appeal of JIT is clear: it allows for maintaining minimum stock levels, thereby reducing the capital tied up in inventory and minimizing the risk of being left with obsolete stock should demand patterns shift unexpectedly.
