Joe Brolly was disgusted by Gareth McKinless’s sending off against Galway Former RTÉ pundit Joe Brolly says he ‘can only apologise on behalf of the Derry GAA community’ after Gareth McKinless was dismissed for a ‘shocking’ stamp on Galway’s Damien Comer in yesterday’s All Ireland Football Championship fixture. Following a consultation with the linesman, Mickey Harte’s men were reduced to fourteen men and the disadvantage showed as they went on to lose 2-14 to 0-15. It was the second ..read more

The Offaly supporters are certainly fully behind this team. Offaly hurling supporters have endured something of a famine over the last twenty years. They’ve been starved of success. The Faithful county experienced many glorious days in the 80s and 90s when, spearheaded by the likes of Brian Whelahan, John Troy, Pat Fleury and the Coughlans, they won four All-Irelands. The last of those came in 1998 and while Offaly made it to another final in 2000, their status slipped badly over the next two decades. But the wheel is turning in their favour again. Having made it to the All-Ireland minor final ..read more

The Rebels were two points down in injury when Sean Stack gave them a penalty for Kyle Hayes’ foul on Shane Kingston. Patrick Horgan stepped up to take the penalty almost immediately and fired past Nickie Quaid in the Limerick goals. Horgan hit a clever free down the line to Brian Hayes with the next play which the St Finbarr’s player scored from as Cork closed out a two point victory over their Munster rivals. With Cork having lost their previous two games to Wa ..read more

‘It’s clear that Dublin have underestimated this Louth team’ It’s becoming a common theme now but Dublin are once again champions of Leinster. Dublin lifted their 14th successive title after a close-fought scoreline of 1-19 to 2-12 at Croke Park this afternoon. Many had engraved Dublin’s name on the trophy before the first ball was even kicked but Louth showed plenty of fight and spirit throughout. Louth were in fact the better of the two in the first half, going into the break with a 0-7 to 0-6 lead. The expectation was that Dublin would come out the blocks and blow Louth away but they remain ..read more
