March through the beginning of April has been full of firsts for us. While I always had the week off for my college spring breaks, I never actually got to take a vacation or go anywhere during them. This year my kids had spring break on the same week(for the first time since my oldest was in high school). This will also be my son’s last spring break, as he graduates college in May(YAY!!!). So we took off to Disney for Spring Break. We had such a good time! Disney is our favorite place and we have spent many many trips there. It’s almost nostalgic for us now–we have favorites that we have to hi ..read more

This month has been so busy I’m going to devote one whole post to the Disney Princess Weekend! I ended February with running all three races in the Disney Princess Weekend. This was probably the most fun I’ve had running–especially while running by myself. I’ve wanted to participate in this weekend for a while now–I’m so happy I got to do it this year. This trip was going to be about running through the Disney parks, not visiting the parks during the day! Brent said he was perfectly happy just enjoying the resort and since we’ve visited the parks so many times over the years we decided we woul ..read more

I got really excited when the calendar changed to February. This is the month of the Disney Princess Weekend races! I’m so excited. It’s been such a fun month. We started with visiting Baker one weekend and attending a UK Mens’ Basketball Game. We had pretty good seats and really enjoyed the game. Our seats were good. I didn’t brave the line for ice cream but I did end up getting a pretzel. I should have gotten a picture because Rupp has upped the game for soft pretzels. It was better than your average concession stand pretzel. Before the game we got to use a gift certificate at one of our favo ..read more

We started out the week doing something I’ve never done before–going to a pro hockey game! We ended up getting gifted tickets to a game at Nashville between the Predators and Calgary. We’ve attended one other hockey game before–also in Nashville-but it was before they got a pro team so that was at least twenty years ago. We saw their minor league team back then and enjoyed the game, but kids and life happened and we just haven’t made it back since they got a pro team. I am born and raised Kentucky, (ya’ll). We just don’t have hockey here. Ice skating is just not something we do, much less play ..read more

2023 Coming in….hot?

We’ve had some unseasonably warmer temps so far this January. I’ve run in shorts multiple days already! But I think this weekend is bringing back winter, so I guess I had better pull my tights back out. I don’t usually do new year resolutions, but sometimes we will list some goals we have-both as a family and individual. The last couple of years getting kids through high school and just life in general(and COVID seemed to throw a wrench in making plans for everyone)has seemed like enough of a goal. This year we did kind of talk about things we would like to do, but I don’t think we have the co ..read more

This is a longish post because I’ve fallen behind in December. I’m just going to do the whole month here! Quite a bit has happened in the last few weeks! First semester of college finished for our youngest, next to last semester finished for our oldest, our old house has sold, Christmas celebrations have happened, and Kentucky just had a white Christmas! And possibly related–I just took Advil before starting this post. It’s been a lot! But we are grateful for all of the above. My daughter had a bit of a weird schedule for her last week and ended up only having to go back to Lexington for one d ..read more

Moving Through 2022

So….we moved! After 23 years in our house, we moved in to our “new” house on October 24. That was the first night we slept here, but we are still living amongst quite a few boxes, and we still have some things still living at our old house that need to join us! It’s been a whirlwind October and November to say the least. I have still been running throughout our move, but I’ve been battling the same back/leg pain that I’ve had for a while now. I thought I just about had it cleared up, but the new house has a lot of steps–our garage is in the basement so even the main level has steps to get to i ..read more

New Beginnings….Soon

We are moving! We have been looking for something else for a while now, and a house came up for sale that “checked all the boxes”(Brent’s words, but I agree), so we went for it! But that means we have to pack up 23 years of our lives! It’s been overwhelming and exciting at the same time. This last week has been much like the one before–clean out, clean up, and take a trip to Goodwill:). We also are prepping our current house to sell, so that is taking up the rest of that time. While I was working hard painting the french doors, Boomer was spying on the neighbor. We met with a realtor, photogra ..read more

I can’t believe September is almost over. Fall always feels like it lasts about two weeks! Maybe this year we will get some of the same perfect weather that we’ve had over the last few days here in Kentucky for a little bit longer. We spent most of the week in Lexington. Brent had a conference from early Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon, and from Friday evening through Sunday was Family Weekend at UK, so we got to attend both without having to drive back home in between. While Brent was in meetings during the day, I would get up(no alarm set!), run, go back in and stretch and do a Pe ..read more

Is it Fall?

The weather this week started to seem a bit fall-like. I love getting to sleep in a little since when it gets a little cooler you don’t have to try and beat the heat by getting out by 6am. I think we are back in the 90’s this coming week so I am glad we at least had that little taste of fall! Speaking of cooler weather, I had a friend who is training for a winter marathon message me asking about running outside in the winter. He didn’t want to be stuck doing all of his runs on the treadmill and was asking about how to approach the cold weather. I told him we had it down to a pretty exact numbe ..read more
