Owned by Outlaw Drag Racer Tim Lynch, this amazing Ford Mustang is just short of too much for the street. If it weren’t built with such careful care and consideration, it could be downright dangerous. As nature intended, it all starts under the hood with a mixture of Gen 1 and Gen 2 Coyote engine parts. The bottom end is a sleeved Gen 2 with premium internals and oversized head studs. The top end is Gen 1, including timing components and valvetrain. The camshafts are custom ground for the twin turbo setup. Speaking of the turbochargers; they are from Garrett. Read More ..read more

We are keeping things nearly stock (and street) tonight with a domestic versus import battle that’ll have you on the edge of your seat. We’ll join the shenanigans as these two competitors roll onto the interstate – you guessed it – in Mexico. The bone stock LT1 is mid-tier in the Chevrolet Camaro lineup. Its all-aluminum 6.2-liter V8 engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. At peak RPM, the 6.2 LS motor can produce 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The LT1 can accelerate from 0 t0 60 mph in 3.9-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 12.2-seconds @ Read More ..read more

This one is for Toby Vitatoe – the king of Kansas City street racing. Toby passed away a few years ago but his memory lives on in the heart of these competitors. With that in mind, let’s get down to where the rubber meets the road – in Mexico. Immediately following the driver’s meeting, the lone Tesla P100 D Plaid was matched up against Carole Baskin in his Ford F-150 with a big block motor and twin turbochargers. The all-wheel drive (electric) Tesla took the early advantage and won by a car length over the rear-wheel drive pickup that failed Read More ..read more

Out trolling for a street race (in Mexico), we encountered a band of roving predators in the form of 1,000+hp Chevrolet Corvettes. Some were supercharged, some turbocharged and others were naturally aspirated. All were fast. In blue, we have a C7 Corvette with a Magnuson 2650 blower and nitrous. He’s claiming 1,100hp. There’s a maroonish Corvette Z06 that’s making 900hp and a silver Corvette ZR1 claiming 1,000hp. The silver car has a Kong ported 2650 supercharger with an aftermarket lid. All three cars are supercharged with voluminous high-performance bolt-ons and tuning variants. The Corvette ..read more

Tonight, we have competitors representing two contrasting styles of transportation. In the first lane, the car is loud and obnoxious. It is belching race gas fumes and slinging bits of burnt rubber everywhere. The exhaust note from this car is deafening. In the opposite lane is a vehicle that requires no traction optimizing burnout. There are no exhaust fumes and – most riveting – it makes virtually no sound. Let’s get a closer look at these sleds. The beautifully loud and menacing automobile is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. It’s a C7, or seventh generation, if you are curious. Under the Read Mo ..read more

Speaking with an accent akin to my own, the iconic band known as Lynyrd Skynyrd said they were headed “Down South Jukin’ and looking for some peace of mind”. These crazy South Texas gearheads are after anything but peace. It’s pandemonium they seek in the form of a Mini Texas Cash Days (about a dozen cars) on the streets (of Mexico). Shall we investigate further? Walking past a turbo LS swapped BMW, our initial encounter is with a man in a Silverado pickup. He’s running a 408 cubic-inch V8 motor with aftermarket cylinder heads and a 98-millimeter turbocharger. The automatic Read More ..read more

Nothing has spurned more street races than the timeless battle of brand loyalty between Ford and Chevy. This video takes a look at a grudge match between a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 1931 Ford Model A. Both vehicles have been dramatically altered for drag racing purposes. Since both cruisers have the potential to lay down 8-second quarter-mile passes, they are each considered pretty fast. Let’s have a closer look. With a ton of new parts installed, Finnegan takes to the interstate in his Chevy. After a pit stop at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona, the Chevy Read More ..read more
