And just like that, we enter another holiday season filled with over indulging in every sense of the word. To help aid in the stress and regret of the upcoming months, I’ve pulled some of my most favorite gift ideas for your Modhemian friends and relatives. Get the Look: Jenni Kayne Home- Living and Bedroom

If you know me at all you’ll know that I’m obsessed with everything Jenni Kayne and of course that includes her home line. She’s expanding her brick and mortars ( Hooray! ) and her look is becoming more and more available to other parts of the country that haven’t yet been privy to the pacific natural way of life. It’s all about muted neutral palates, a respect of natural materials, simple patterns, if any at all, and lots and lots of organic luxurious textures. Although she is available to everyone via her website and storefronts the price tag isn’t always conceivable for everyone. That’s wh ..read more

Summer 2021 Straw Hat Round Up

The deeper I get into my thirties the more I regret those long days on the beach in my teens and twenties without sun screen or a sun hat. As the fine lines start to settle in and the spots start to pop, I’m painfully aware of the sun damage that has already been done. In the last few years I’ve taken charge of my leather face and have added more and more weapons to my arsenal to try and slow the age clock. Better late than never I guess. Aside from the obvious twice daily slatherings of sunscreen on my face, neck and chest during the spring and summer months, and the bed time shellac I apply ..read more

French Girl Fringe: Major 2020 Hair Trend
The Modhemian Blog
by Kaitrin Degan

Stuck in my house for the last five months and seeing only my close family and friends the majority of the time on a computer screen has made me spend way to much time thinking about my hair. Weird side affect of loneliness, I know, but it’s true. Since I couldn’t see my hair girl back in April I thought it was a great idea to cut my own fringe bangs. Was thirsty for a change and kept seeing all these sexy skinny bitches on the gram with great fringe. I guess I thought cutting four inches off my hair would shed those 15 Corona pounds, but surprise, that wasn’t the case. What resulted was a mi ..read more

Kitchen Lighting Trends 2020: Accent Lamps in the Kitchen
The Modhemian Blog

Since we’ve all been spending so much time on Corona house arrest and we have all become professional chefs, I wanted to take time out to talk about a little trend I’m seeing and loving. The table lamp in the kitchen is really becoming the star of the show for me. Yeah, yeah the homemade bread comes in a close second but with everyone stuck staring at their 4 walls, its nice to participate in a little interior refresh and what better way then to play musical lamps and experience how lovely a little kitchen counter glow can be. If it’s good enough for Jeremiah, Nate and Athena, its good enough ..read more

Floral Foraging: Scavenging Florals for Peace of Mind

It seemed all too appropriate, with my new found quarantine time and lack of work….. or any face to face social interaction for that matter, that this is the perfect time to dive back into blogging. The main reason being if I don’t stop and appreciate all the beauty there still is in this world I may just shrivel up and die, but also because its been a while and I have a lot of really pretty things to share! Quarantine aside, I think passing the time immersed in things, people and practices you admire in a time of such uncertainty is the best and most sane thing we can do for ourselves right ..read more

The last time I had a wave of pinkness, I was cooking a baby girl. Don’t get excited, no sibling for Pop just yet. I chalk it up to the in your face summer blooms, rose all day and those muted earthy disco hues that have hit a high note recently. I’m talking more of the sand dune, peachy bottom, blushy terra cotta kinda pink as opposed to anything magenta and or bubblegum. You do know who you’re talking to riiight? This summer can be summed up in t ..read more

Beam Me Up Scotty: White Beam Ceilings Are Giving Us Some Rustic Modern Bohemian Realness
The Modhemian Blog

This perfectly imperfect architectural element has me rethinking everything I have ever loved and sought after in my own dream house. White ceilings have always been a must in my mind but lately I’ve been focused on how wonderful a slatted beamed, raw white wood, open ceiling would be to either recreate or uncover in our next home. Not meaning to sway towards Fixer Upper shiplap status, but kinda, if that makes sense. Adding something interesting over our heads that gives texture and linear beauty to an otherwise blank and boring surface sounds like something i could get on board with. This r ..read more

There’s nothing I love more then a gorgeous boutique hotel. Whether you’re passing through a city for some exploration or on a staycation in search of a much needed time out, an exquisite hotel experience should never be compromised. Hotels are an excellent source of design inspiration for me and typically the main highlight when I travel. The smaller and quainter the establishment, the more at home I feel in it, which is the main goal right? A home away from home that makes you sick with design envy, in the best way possible. Before I travel, I scour the internet for recommendations, reviews ..read more
