(I asked my oldest Man-brother to help me write this post so that it could be a surprise.) Hi Mum and Dad, It’s been a good long run, but I think it’s finally time for me to go. I’m super tired, and my legs don’t work very well anymore, and life just isn’t as fun when I can’t come over to see what my people are doing. Please don’t be sad though, I’m not, you guys gave me a great life. You played with me and took me for walks, you made sure I always had lots of good healthy food, and fresh water. I always had a comfy bed to sleep in, and lots of toys (sorry for destroying so many, it’s just r ..read more

My Last Few Days

Wednesday 26th October 2022 — Last Friday I had my first laser therapy and massage session which went well and was very relaxing for me. Mum and I think that I might have shown a tiny bit of improvement over the next couple of days, even after only one session. For a while now I haven’t been interested in doing much exploring of my backyard but on Saturday and Sunday I actually wandered up the yard voluntarily to check out my favourite “possum-poo-corner” and have a sniff around and snack on some possum poo. Even though Mum hates it when I eat possum poo she saw my renewed interest as a very ..read more

My First Laser Therapy Session
A Dog's Blog

I’ve been having regular hydrotherapy sessions at the Animal Rehab Klinik at Sutherland NSW since February 2020 …that’s over 2½ years now! The hydrotherapy and prescribed home exercises have helped to keep me fit and healthy all this time, and even my vet agrees that I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for all the therapy I’m getting. I’m now having a few more pain and stiffness problems related to my age, and as a result I’m unable to do my home exercises anymore, so Mum and my ARK therapists thought it was time to try some laser therapy in addition to the regular hydrotherapy to see if i ..read more

I had my usual monthly vet appointment again this morning. I have to take Amoxyclav again due to another nasal infection. Recurrent nasal infections are to be expected with my scary-nose-thing which causes bleeding from my right nostril. Read my previous blogs here and here for more info about that. My vet said that if I develop another infection after this one has cleared up I may need to take antibiotics all the time to stop the infections. This will be far better than having copious amounts of yucky ooze coming out of my nose! Mum will wait and see what happens after I’ve finished this roun ..read more

Photogenic Me!

Mum loves taking lots of photos of me, though sometimes I do get tired of seeing her camera in front of me all the time. I’m a Very Good Boy so I usually try to cooperate as best I can. This morning Mum took lots of photos of me outside in the backyard, looking very handsome as usual, hehe. This is just a few of the “millions” she took… Shelby at 15years 2 1/2 months — 15/10/2022 (Click any image to enlarge & scroll through the gallery) After lunch Mum, Dad and I went to visit Nanna and Pa (Mum’s parents). We travelled in separate cars because Dad needed to take Pa’s weed trimmer, which ..read more

A Last Minute Vet Visit

Yesterday (Saturday 1st October 2022) Mum took me see my vet again because of my nose problem (see my previous blog for more info). When I woke up this morning there was a bit more blood-stained clear snot coming out of my right nostril than previously. I left a trail of bloodied snot drips across the floor as I headed to my stairlift to go outside for my morning toilet break and to have my “first breakfast” (1/2 a carrot and a “Turmeric Dog Bite”) on my outside bed and then have a snooze outside for a while as usual. Eventually, after a couple of hours I decided I’d had enough of being outsid ..read more

Last Wednesday (21st September 2022) I had my usual monthly vet visit to get my Cartrophen injection (to slow progression of my arthritis) and more Previcox tablets (pain relief). As usual I was the Goodest of Good Boys and was rewarded by the vet with yummy liver treats after my injection. Mum has been very worried about me lately because she noticed increased clear nasal discharge from my right nostril and sometimes it looked a bit pink, like it had blood in it. On the previous Monday (19th) when I went to the Animal Rehab Klinik for my usual hydrotherapy session I had a very yellow snotty n ..read more

Toe Grips

I’ve been slipping over on smooth floors a lot more so Mum decided to try these things called ToeGrips on my back paws. (Click images to enlarge) There were enough in the packet to put them on all four paws and have some spares in case any fell off, but we decided to just try them out on my back paws first as that’s where I’m having the most trouble. On 15th August Mum followed the instructions on how to put them on my toe nails, and I was a Very Good Boy and allowed her to do this, only pulling my feet away a few times. They didn’t seem to bother me at all and Mum was very pleased about this ..read more

Eeeewwww! Leeches!

Mum told me that because of all the sky-water that has been falling parts of my backyard have become perpetually wet and now these creatures she called leeches have somehow found their way here. While I was inside the big people-kennel last night a leech dropped out from between my toes on my back left paw when I stood up to go to my water bowl, then Dad accidentally trod on the “small black lumpy thing” he only half noticed on the kitchen floor, then of course blood squish went everywhere. By the time Mum was aware of all this I had walked back to my bed and was busy licking my bloodied paw ..read more

I’m 15 Today!

Happy Birthday to meeeeee! I turned 15 today and as usual I had to suffer the stupid birthday hat again. I usually refuse to smile when wearing hats but this time I smiled briefly, just to make Mum happy, hehe. The wonderful birthday cake Mum made for my breakfast had 15 blueberries on top of yummy yoghurt and Rose-Hip sprinkles which were covering a raw BARF pattie with chewy surprises hidden inside. The outside edge of the cake was covered in deeeeelicious sardines. The weather was nice so I got to have my birthday celebrations out in the backyard today. I got a Triceratops for my birthd ..read more
