Hola Everyone! I have been super busy working on a lot of projects. I had the opportunity to chat with a young lady named Danielle Romero who recently discovered that her great grandmother was "passing". For those who are unfamiliar with the term "passing" Racial passing occurs when a person who is classified as a member of a racial group is accepted or perceived ("passes") as a member of another racial group. For those of you who might be interested in what has been going on with me hair-wise in Costa Rica --
Here is an update.
I will say that it is not the easiest thing to maintain your hair as a black woman here in Costa Rica. It has gotten much better but the options are still very limited and "licensed" cosmetologists are few and far between. In many areas of the country you will not be able to find anyone to do your hair. You will also have to deal with the language barrier unless you are truly fluent in Spanish and even then I think you can still have some issues. I certainly did.
