UF Medical Physics is excited to announce the appointment of Dr Stephanie Leon, Associate Professor, as the next Director of the UF Medical Physics Graduate Program, which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP). Dr Leon will assume the position effective July 1, 2024, at which time Dr Manuel Arreola, the current director, will assume the role of Assistant Director. UF Medical Physics is incredibly proud of the 2024 Richard L Morin, PhD, Fellowship in Medical Physics Awardees: Colin Schaeffer, PhD and Zahra Razi, PhD! Drs Schaeffer and Razi both graduated from the UF Medical Physics Graduate Program. Dr Schaeffer was awarded his MS in 2020, followed by his PhD in 2023. His dissertation was titled “Automated Differentiation of Blood and Iodine in Stroke Patients“. He is currently a 1st year diagnostic medical physics resident at Henry Ford Health in Detroit. As part of our continued growth and expansion, the University of Florida’s Medical Physics Graduate Program (a concentration under Medical Sciences in the College of Medicine) is currently recruiting MS and PhD students for Fall 2024 admission. Five incoming students will be funded as graduate assistants – three in Diagnostic Medical Physics by the Department of Radiology; two in Image-Guided Surgery by the Department of Neurosurgery. Join us in welcoming the 2024 UF Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Resident: TJ Moretti! TJ is currently a PhD Candidate here in the University of Florida’s Medical Physics Graduate Program. His current research encompasses a review and analysis of radiation dosimetry for the summation of interventional imaging and radiotherapy treatment procedures of Yttrium-90 microsphere patients by use of Monte Carlo simulations.
