I recently attended the first Oxford Super Major held by the UKTC. This was a new event for 2024 in the area, and I was keen to try it out since it was so local to me. I decided to take my World Eaters, as I have been using them a lot recently in the club league and they are one of the most competitive armies that I currently own.  Overall, I had a great time at the event. The venue was really nice and spacious. There was space on each table to place models, drinks, etc, and plenty of space to move around the hall and between tables, something that is not always the case at UKTC events ..read more

I recently completed a new terrain set for the gaming club and tournaments we hold. This was to be used with the Frontline Gaming jungle mat, and used the UKTC terrain set. I was wanting to do another one of these for a while, but struggled to get the plastic vines needed for the design that I wanted.  Fortunately, I was able to pick up some plastic vines on a visit to a local garden centre, so was able to put together the set.  ..read more

Game 2 of the tournament would see my World Eaters take on the Hypercrypt Necrons in the Supply Drop mission. This was not a great mission to be playing against this army, as their teleport ability would make it easy for them to get onto the objectives late in the game to get a lot of points on the primary mission.  My army consisted of: Angron Kharn the Betrayer Lord Invocatus Lord on Juggernaught 10 Berzerkers Rhino 5 Berzerkers 5 Berzerkers 10 Jackals 3 Exalted Eightbound 6 Exalted Eightbound 3 Eightbound 2 Chaos Spawn Denis' army consisted of: Nightbringer Void Dragon Hexmark Dest ..read more

Terrain Showcase- Sector Imperialis GW tournament board.

Today I have a GW-style tournament board that I painted up over the holiday period. I managed to get a good bargain on ebay for the old Sector Imperialis terrain, so was able to build up a GW-style tournament board for my gaming club and tournaments.  I already have a set of ruins painted up in a desert style, red and green terrain, so decided to go with blue for these. I went a bit more in depth with these ruins, painting the windows in gold, as well as adding in some red for the lights and control panels.  I used a similar scheme to the Boarding Actions terrain that I painted up, a ..read more

Terrain Showcase- UKTC lava board

Hi everyone, today I have another UKTC tournament board. This time, I painted it up to match a lava mat that I have.  This was a really simple scheme to do. The mdf terrain was undercoated black, then highlighted with a dark blue, then grey highlight. Then I did the bottom of the bases with various drybrush coats of red and orange. I focused on the bottom and sides of the ruins, as well as any hole sections in the base to match the gaming mat.  ..read more

Terrain Showcase- Cyberpunk Board

Today, I take a break from the Tyranids to showcase one of the recent boards that I made for the gaming club and tournaments that I hold. This one is a UKTC set that has been themed to fit the Cyberpunk gaming mat from gamemat.eu. I was really happy with how this one turned out, as I thought it might be difficult to match the aesthetic of the mat.  I started with undercoating the MDF set with dark grey primer, followed by Tempest Blue from the Colour Forge. I've used a few of these sprays and can really recommend them. They come in 500 mL cans, so are a bit bigger than standard spray can ..read more
