National Inline Hockey Premier League showcases the most experienced players within their own club teams playing in a series of games now hosted in the Hamilton and New Plymouth rinks. The event will culminate in a weekend final with the winner being awarded the “President’s Trophy” . This league is a new concept initiated in 2023 in consultation with players.

Dear Members and Clubs,
As most will be aware, Tuesday night saw a club-called SGM that resulted in the removal of the last members of the previous IHNZ Board, as per the process outlined in the IHNZ Constitution.
As with many others, I find it truly heart-breaking to see the national body for our sport in such disarray, as has been witnessed in recent years but culminating in these and other more recent events.

As a sport with a small volunteer base, we realised that we must focus our resources both financially and manpower wise to a set of activities and events that we can do and do well. This required us to really focus on our goals and make sure that any program or event that we proposed supported our goals. We also had to be honest in what we could achieve in the short and long term. Unfortunately, not everything that was proposed could be done but by taking a realistic approach to the resources we have available we hope to be able to meet our goals and then build on them over time.

The Whanganui Inline Hockey Club is hoping to inspire a local resurgence in the sport as it hosts the 2023 Inline Hockey New Zealand National Championships.
Event organiser and club member James O’Donnell said it was the first time Whanganui has hosted the tournament since the early 2010s, with plans in place for the last two years.

For the Junior Festival, the Lighting Club have arranged a couple of exciting events so make sure that you bring your tie die shirt, bell bottom pants and swim togs.

Please note the following amendment has been made to the IHNZ Rulebook under Rule 8.2 - Suspension.
8.2 Suspension
a) Any player, coach or manager assessed a Major Penalty and/or a Game Misconduct Penalty shall automatically be removed from the balance of that game and be referred to the discipline committee for further action. Any player, coach or manager receiving a game misconduct in the last 5 minutes of a game will automatically receive a suspension for the next game their team plays, in addition to being referred to the discipline committee, unless otherwise stated in the playing rules ..read more
