Last month Robert had the opportunity to join the Certified Port Educator course held by Port’s official regulator, the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto in Porto city and the Douro Valley. A full itinerary of theory and tasting classes were held at the Institute’s offices, followed by a visit to Grahams wonderful Port lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. A quick trip was then made to the Douro Valley where educators visited producers Alves de Sousa and Quinta do Tedo. A busy start to 2019 has seen Wine Academy Italia run courses from Puglia in the south of Italy to Piemonte in the north and many in between. 2021 has, so far, been a frustrating year. Covid continues to cause much pain and suffering across the world. We have on several occasions hoped to restart classroom courses only to be blocked from doing so. 2020 has been a challenging year for everybody, the pandemic has caused enormous human and financial damage across the world.
