In a previous auto review we already declared the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 as our favourite electric option of them all on the market. Although this week we have the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Preferred and it is making us shuffle the list.We couldn’t help but compare the two: 5 to 6. There are plenty of similarities, but enough differences to have them competing with one another in the same market space. After the Kona, this is Hyundai’s only EV option, once with hybrid and plug-in options, now only the fully electric model is available. The most obvious difference between the 2 is the body design. I appreciate how the Fairmont Pacific Rim is bringing world wide talent to the threshold of Vancouver’s culinary scene. From award winning chefs and masters of the cocktail, to the latest: chef Eunji Lee from New York’s award-winning Lysée pastry boutique. This is the Botanist x Lysée dessert collaboration, where we got to meet and chat with chef Eunji Lee as she teams up with Fairmont Pacific Rim’s in house, executive pastry chef, Kate Siegel. If you are like me you know a little, but not a whole lot on traditional Italian spirits. That is why I was excited to visit The Woods in North Vancouver, to learn more about this local distillery, after the new owners have taken over. Long story short, this was a lengthy process and the new show runners are a family that cannot wait to start injecting some fresh and lively energy into the space. Their goal is to win over the hearts and minds of all their customers, creating memorable experiences through their unique processes, while providing a positive impact in the world through collaborat ..read more

There is a new restaurant concept in Yaletown and we got the full rundown on why it is a welcomed change to Vancouver’s food delivery and dining scene. At its fruition this will be 13 different restaurants under one roof, with 8 currently confirmed. By April 15th, 2024 Pizza Barbarella will be moving in, and with the start of May we will see Hui Lau Shan, calling Club Kitchen their home too. (The latter is known of their fresh mango drinks and dessert.) This is not a food hall or a food court. Each vendor is its own business, operating together as a community. They share resources, pool marke ..read more

Fisherman’s Terrace Seafood Restaurant

We were gathered for the rare family dinner. My father would be treating our extended family and suggested Fisherman’s Terrance in Aberdeen Mall. A hard to find amongst all the corner restaurants of this elongated mall, with only one walking direction. Everything was preordered for ease and to avoid all that back and forth. My father insisting everyone “order what they want” and everyone feeling too obliged to do so, considering the cost to the one who made the invitation. These were dishes my father choose in hopes of appeasing and pleasing, and it did that with plenty left over and everyone ..read more

Croissants are having their time in the Vancouver food scene lime light right now. There are so many options for these flaky and buttery crescents popping up, and more and more visual interpretations of them coming to social media in a frenzy. So when you are done with the croissant shaped liked cubes, onigiri, and even carrots; and are looking for a classically done pastry, you can look to Angus T. They have two locations and we were at the Yaletown one today. They are buzzing on the weekends, a warm space on this rainy day. You enter their all brick facade and are greeted by a fulsome show ..read more

I first discovered Ramen Taka at their original, downtown, off-Robson Street location. This Vancouver location was their first oversees location. And although I do visit and crave for other ramen options, they continue to be the one I call my favourite. Their second and now only location is within Aberdeen Mall in Richmond, as their only Japanese ramen option. So if and when I am in the vicinity and looking for a meal, I steer my group in this direction. In this case, our original destination for lunch did not pan through, so seeing as we were already 45 minutes away from home, we decided to ..read more
