SACRAMENTO – The California State Prison, Sacramento (CSP-SAC) Investigative Services Unit, CDCR’s Deadly Force investigation team, and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death of an incarcerated person who died after a use of force incident.  On Friday, April 12, at 6:55 p.m., staff responded to a disturbance in a housing unit. TOLLESON, ARIZ. — California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials today announced an offender who walked away from the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 2024, has been apprehended. On April 15, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a United States Marshals Task Force took Adolfo Casillas into custody without incident. DELANO – Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) officials are investigating the death of incarcerated person David Dodd as a homicide after he was attacked by another incarcerated person on Friday, April 5, 2024. At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a fight between Michael Darden, Jr., and Dodd. Officers observed Darden striking Dodd repeatedly with an incarcerated-manufactured weapon. SAN QUENTIN – Condemned person Richard D. Turner passed away at an outside medical facility on Saturday, March 23, 2024, while incarcerated at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. He was 65 years old. Turner was pronounced deceased by medical staff at 3:45 a.m. with a manner of death identified as natural causes. The Marin County Coroner’s Office will determine his official cause of death. Turner was admitted to CDCR on April 16, 1980, from San Bernardino County to serve life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder. SOLEDAD – The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) Investigative Services Unit is investigating the death of an incarcerated person who died after he attacked correctional officers during an altercation.
