Posing your clients to both improve your boudoir photography portfolio AND satisfy your clients, can be one of the most challenging parts of a session. Inherent confidence
I have been a boudoir photographer for years now. I have documented countless women’s journeys. Some of them starting their marriages, celebrating in some way, and some who finally came to the realization with how magnificent they are and were moved to document that. I have alluded to how much this work has inspired me in the past. But I am not entirely sure I ever sat down and combed through what it has taught me.
I have met women of all shapes and sizes with all different stories. I take each of them with me long after shooting wraps, and their personalities dance around ..read more

Quiet Confidence
Quiet confidence. It took me along time to figure out exactly what it meant. When I think of confidence, I always think of someone that is larger than life. Loud, magnetic, and animated. I think of someone that takes up the room, just by being in it. I love those people. The loud ones, the huggers, the lives of the parties.
But quiet confidence, and when its used to describe someone, means something else entirely. The phrase speaks more about how that person makes you feel, versus what it is that person has said. It is an understated, and gorgeous self-acceptance, that so many ..read more

How Boudoir Photography Challenged My Definition of Beauty | Chicago Boudoir Photography Studio
Written by: Katie Kastner
In my 38 years of being a woman on planet Earth, I’ve been shown and told by society that beauty was big hair and too much eyeshadow, tragically skinny and bare faced, overly frosted and plucked, skinny but with curves, airbrushed but not in real life. I’ve had the “ideal” of female beauty shoved down my throat since I was old enough to recognize shampoo commercials by the cascade of iridescent hair…and I can bet you did too.
Well I’m here to tell you, they g ..read more

What do you love about yourself?
What do you love about yourself? A question I ask every person that walks into my boudoir photography studio in Homer Glen, IL. Claire answered this question like no one ever has and has truly inspired me.
Claire- what do you love about yourself?
I love that I’m still here. I never gave up on myself and I’ve had to work really hard over the past few years to find out what I want from my life, and how I want to live it. I love that I do scary things sometimes and that if the me from 4 years ago could see me now she wouldn’t believe me. I love t ..read more

GLAMOUR Article | How Boudoir Can Help With Anxiety
I meet so many incredible women on a weekly basis. Their stories, their struggles, and their triumphs have all been embedded into the soft white walls of my studio. And as hard as I try, I can’t seem to find the words to describe how magical this becomes. It has always been so hard to convey how most of the anxiety around this kind of shoot (and life in general) is in the waiting. The doing it, the diving in, that’s the only thing that overpowers it.
Thankfully, I have exceptionally talented clients, that have the perfect words, and are brave ..read more

Why would anyone want to do a boudoir session? These images do contain partial nudity, viewer discretion advised.
I am asked on a regular basis, ‘why would anyone want to do a boudoir session?’ and ‘what would I even do with these images?’. There is a common misconception that women want boudoir sessions to have a curated collection of naked images of their body. That vanity has somehow weaseled its way into that persons life and they are craving attention. But this could not be further than the truth. In fact, it’s the exact opposite in every single case.  ..read more

Homer Glen Boudoir Studio
She came into the Homer Glen boudoir studio quiet, nervous, and excited to get started on the session. She sat calmly while getting her hair and makeup done, listening to the conversations and adding in her thoughts here and there. I remember thinking two things. One, her curly hair and flawless complexion, wow. And two, I really really like this woman. She was kind and had a gentle spirit. As the session proceeded she opened up sharing her gorgeous and natural smile that just lit up the room. I am thankful to have ..read more

Bridal Boudoir Photography
I have been a photographer for eleven amazing years now. And have been shooting beauty and bridal boudoir photography for a little over half of that time. I began asking women a series of questions regarding their experiences. I thought I could improve the ambience from the feedback, and even learn a little more about each and every woman’s journey. Reading this feedback is often some of my favorite moments. Tangible evidence on what makes my job so fulfilling. This time around, I asked H, what this shoot meant to her, and why she made the decision to do it.
I am sha ..read more
