Our Goal to Visit all of The US National Parks
Several years ago, when we started our careers as traveling physical therapists, we began visiting a few US National Parks near our travel therapy contracts on the east coast. When we set out on our first cross-country road trip in 2019, we decided it would be a fun goal to try to visit ALL of the US National Parks!
Flash forward about three years later in 2022 and we had visited nearly sixty out of sixty-three total parks! This was quite the feat, visiting almost all of the ones in the contiguous US via road trips, plus the Hawaii and Alaska park ..read more

April was a pretty laid back month. Besides a quick trip to Kansas City for a few days for the annual AOTA (Occupational Therapy) Conference, we were at home for the rest of the month. The conference went really smoothly, and we were compensated well for attending the conference with one of the staffing companies we work with. We answered questions at a booth in the exhibit hall throughout the conference and hosted a meetup one of the nights for current a prospective travel therapists. We had a really good turnout for the meetup with lots of current OTs and OT students attending, along with ma ..read more

It’s been nearly 5 years since I last wrote a thorough update on my journey with credit card and bank account sign-up bonuses (check out that article here) and almost 6 years since my first article on it (click here for that one).
Much has changed since I wrote those. I have continued to sign up for new credit cards and bank accounts for the bonuses, but at a much slower rate than when I first started 8 years ago. There are a few reasons for this.
First, in 2018 Whitney and I semi-retired and started taking extended trips around the world. Since then, we were out of the country for 5 months in ..read more

2022 was a whirlwind of travel for us!
We spent only eight weeks at home all year, not consecutively. We set a goal to travel as much as possible before settling down and having kids soon, and we really cashed in on that goal in 2022. We spent the first two weeks of the year on a road trip in Florida. In February, we set out for our Latin America trip which took us first to Texas for a conference, followed by ten weeks throughout Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, and Costa Rica. Immediately after returning from Latin America, we set off on a road trip through Canada to get to Alaska, where we ..read more

March was a good mix of travel, work, and working on our health/fitness. We were at home working and dieting for the first two weeks of the month, and then back to traveling for the second half of the month. We went to Mexico for about a week for the free all-inclusive Core Medical Group trip (we qualify for this incentive trip through sending referrals to the company), followed by a week spent in the US Virgin Islands.
The Core Med trip was a lot of fun and we did much better this year in moderating our food and alcohol consumption, along with leaving some time to get at least a little work d ..read more

At the beginning of 2022, we set out on a 10 week trip through Latin America. Ever since our 5-month long trip to Latin America got cancelled in 2020 due to COVID, we had been trying to resume some of our travels there. In 2021, we spent about 2 months traveling around various parts of Mexico, but did not venture into Central or South America. By 2022 we were ready to see more!
This was an overview of our plans for this trip, and here is Jared’s recap and expenses from the trip. In this post I’ll give a more in depth recap of everywhere we went and everything we did during our 10 weeks through ..read more

After being home in Virginia all of January, we were back on the road again in February. At the beginning of the month we left on a 2.5 week road trip down to Key West. The main purpose of this trip was to visit Dry Tortugas National Park south of Key West. Along the way we stopped in Fort Meyers to speak at the Florida PT Student Conclave. We also visited several friends and followers on the drive there and back in various places through NC, SC and FL.
We successfully made it to Dry Tortugas on this trip, unlike our first attempt at going in 2022! That makes National Park 61/63 for us! We wer ..read more

January was an awesome month. We spent a full month at home for the first time in almost two years which gave us an opportunity to get into more of a routine and get a lot of work done. Diet and exercise were our primary focus for the month, and Whitney and I both lost about 10 lbs each which is long overdue with all of the eating out we’ve done while traveling internationally. We always struggle to maintain our weight while moving around so often, so we do our best to take advantage of time at home to be as healthy as possible.
I got a lot of new articles written which will be published over ..read more

We finished up our trip around the world in December. The majority of the month was spent in American Samoa (where we visited our 60th national park) and New Zealand before making it back home just in time for Christmas. In New Zealand, we rented a car and drove all around the country for about 2.5 weeks. This was the first time we’ve ever done a road trip in another country (aside from driving through Canada), and we picked an amazing place to do it. New Zealand, especially the south island, is absolutely amazing. New Zealand is our new favorite country in the world out of the 42 that we’ve v ..read more

Wow, 2022 was an extremely busy year for us. We started off the year with a couple week road trip to Florida. Soon after returning, we spent 10 weeks traveling all over Latin America. After that was a quick turn around to our 4 month summer adventure driving to/from and living in Alaska. A couple of days after getting home, we flew to Las Vegas for a conference. Two weeks later, we flew to Mexico for a week in the sun at a resort. Then, less than a week after returning home, we left on our next big adventure, 9 weeks traveling around the world! I would say that we met our goal of traveling to ..read more
