I have continued to be busy, but take it somewhat easy since the Boston Marathon. However, my body continues to be a bit irritable. I think its a combination of several things. From Escape from Alcatraz in August, to St George 70.3 in September, to Boston in October, my body is a bit delayed on recovery. It is so interesting to think about how the body heals and adapts to the stress we place on it. In all honesty, my body wasn’t truly ready for Boston or St George, and I am paying for it now with the slow recovery. I have also continued to go to a couple group runs because that is how I have b ..read more

Well – it has been awhile since writing. Part of that is because I continue to be so busy! The other part is because I have not had a chance to go through my pictures and I want to wait to write my posts so I can share the cool photos with you. And the last part… I haven’t really been a traveling therapist. I have been in the Bay Area since March. One and done? We will see I am writing this as I am on a plane from Boston to San Francisco on a lovely Wednesday morning. The flight left early EST and I will get back in time to work a half day PST. I will likely be tired, and this is just a pri ..read more

The first two weeks have been a blur as I got back from a fabulous vacation and jumped right into day one work. The first week was mostly orientation, and the second week I started to see my own clients. But it was a short week because Wednesday, I left…. For St George to participate in IRONMAN 70.3 Worlds. It was so generous of the Henry’s to allow me to stay with them in the RV. They even brought my TT bike out to Utah from Indiana. Unfortunately, I hadn’t ridden my bike since December and the front tire wasn’t letting any air in. Good news is that IM had their lovely bike mechanics at the v ..read more

Well, I did it. My first assignment. Although I extended once, I have fulfilled my final contract. I will be starting on the seventh at a new company. I’m excited to see the difference in home care companies in the area. This week has been pretty exciting. It has gone quickly, but also reminded me why I do the job I do. I have met a lot of great clients and will truly miss them As far as activities go this week…. Highlight of the week was hiking with my aunt and uncle. It had been awhile!! Great news is, I have over a week to cruise around before my next contract start. See the next coup ..read more

What a weird week. The news of the US pulling out of Afghanistan wasn’t necessarily shocking, but ultimately just made me think. Military lives lost, Afghan lives lost. The violence is sad, and even the empath in me cannot even begin to imagine what life is like in those environments. The smoke has made the air quality “unhealthy,” which has also been something to think about. The beautiful Mount Diablo can’t be seen with the current smoke. The air quality being poor may be an inconvenience to me, but homes and lives have been lost. This definitely hasn’t been something I have thought much of ..read more

This week there were basically two activities: Running and enjoying SF On Monday, I went to Walnut Creek Track Club, and on Wednesday, it was to Forward Motion! Marty awarded me with my 100 mile t-shirt and we enjoyed a lovely evening. When I got here in March, I quickly found forward motion, the running store out of Danville. I learned that the store gives out a running T-shirt for 100 miles, a long sleeve T-shirt for 500 miles, and progressively better prices. There are people that have 5000 miles. The only Miles they count are the ones run on Wednesdays with the group. I went to the ..read more

I’m still reminiscing on some of the views from Oregon…. so here’s a few more to share with you! And more from the bike trip Back to work on Tuesday, but worked Saturday. It did make for a long (but 40 hour…) week… Thankfully I got to ride fireball couple times. Only ended up with two lovely bruises on each lateral thigh. YOLO?!!? Celebrated with some exciting news at the end of the week. Many of you may have predicted it… I almost don’t even want to type it. “I told you, you would.” “You’re the only one who is surprised.” Oh friends, you know me too well. The truth ..read more

Finally! The week of the western spirit trip. We booked this trip about a year ago after we had so much fun at the Grand Canyon. Western spirit does a great job of settling our stuff around, cooking for us, and giving us routes. It’s a great camping/bike trip that I do recommend looking into if you haven’t Day one – getting to camp This took longer than expected because the Umpqua River Trail was shut down due to wildfire. Therefore we drove north to Oakridge. It was a lot of set up and transport time, but we did get on the bikes for a six mile route down The Goodman Creek Trail. It was mostl ..read more

This week has been a blur. Good things and some stressful things have been in the works. I found time to bike, eat well, and hike even though I had a slight mishap with my foot when riding in the Santa Cruz. I stepped out of the pedals too quickly and whacked my foot on a rock…. It did quickly subside and now I’m ready for the Oregon MTB trip! Highlights of the week displayed below Some of the joys with Joey ..read more

I never posted but figure I may as well publish this now because I am re-reading this rough draft and noticing how things have changed since I wrote this. Good to see things come along What a great week. But depends on who you ask. I could recount my last few days and recognize the good and the bad. I’m not sure what to say ..read more
