This Gluten Free Bracciole Recipe was a joint effort. I had the pleasure of asking my mother to work with me one time to show me how to make bracciole. It was a lot of fun working in the kitchen together again. My queen of a Mother is 81 and was willing to show me […]

Lactose Free Cheese is a thing. Many European cheese that are properly aged are naturally lactose free. Surprised? I am not surprised. I grew up on imported cheese and never had a problem. The problems developed when I left home and could not afford imported cheese. Yikes. Cabot Creamery has chosen to make Lactose Free […]

Coping with galactosemia as an adult has been mind-blowing. I have had it all my life and I found out a little over a year ago. What is Galactosemia you ask? Well, it is a metabolic disorder whereby your body cannot handle galactose and it becomes a toxin in your body. Fun, right?
Coping With Galactosemia
I found out I had galactosemia by accident. Although I knew I was lactose intolerant for several years, I understood there was something else causing problems in my diet. It was not simple to figure out.

Do you know how to deal with a gluten exposure? I had no idea when I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease, how difficult and painful a gluten exposure could be. Unprepared is the only way I can describe my experience.
Awareness of What a Gluten Exposure Can Be
A gluten exposure occurs when someone with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance consumes food that contains gluten and creates an autoimmune response. This can include airborne gluten in addition to cosmetic ingredients that are applied to the skin. My friend got exposed to a wheat field on a windy day. That was fun.

We have unexpectedly had to begin eating gluten free lentil pasta. All three of my daughters have juvenile diabetes (it goes hand and hand with celiac’s disease apparently). They take insulin every day.
Lentil Pasta is Better Than Most Pastas for Diabetes
When I got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year, it required another drastic change to my diet. Not wanting to go on pills or insulin so soon, I began to really cut out every extraneous calorie I could find in my diet.
I began to look more at how to still eat healthily while not raising blood sugar levels as I continue to lose weight. It ..read more

I drink GT’s Kombucha to boost my immune system. Some days it is hard to believe, but I do. Every day I drink one 16 ounce sparkling effervescent bottle of Kombucha.
Someone suggested kombucha to me in the 90’s. At the time, I had a job, three special needs daughters, a difficult marriage and a house to run. There was no time to brew kombucha. I have no regrets about passing this up. I wasn’t ready and GT was not pumping out kombucha that is easy to access and insanely Alive. Yes. This stuff is absolutely alive.

It is a surreal honor to have received word that we were included in the Feedspot Top Twenty List of Gluten Free Baking Blogs. Top of the list was my favorite first guide to baking gluten free: Gluten Free on A Shoestring.
Nicole was the first blogger that gave me hope after finding out we all had celiacs. I have several of her cookbooks and she taught me a great deal about ingenuity and determination when living and thriving gluten free. To be included in a list with a blogger like this means more than I can say, and lets me know how much I have to get back in there and blog.
