Weaving a smooth angle in tapestry

Here's another tip for my online weaving students. This one is about shape building. When attempting to make a smooth decrease, always hinge on a warp whose last sequence went under that warp. You can only achieve this repeatedly if you're decreasing by multiples of two warps each sequence (ie. abandoning 2, 4 or 6 warps etc). The arrow in the image above points to the area showing how the last sequence went under a warp. So, that is the warp I will hinge on next. The weaving below used this technique to create the blue hill on the bottom part of the design. *Note that this technique is speci ..read more

Student work from my Intro to Tapestry: Weave a Sunset workshop Knit City was a whirlwind, but isn't it always?! My weekend began on Saturday morning with my Intro to Tapestry Weaving: Weave a Sunset class. I taught a sold-out class, and everyone kicked butt at weaving their first tapestry. I had worked long days in the workshop leading up to Knit City, making a variety of Everlea Tapestry Looms in different wood types so that each of my students had a selection of looms to choose from. So, after putting my all into that day of teaching i was ready for a nap, but not befo ..read more

How to Sew Slits in Tapestry
Everlea Yarn Blog
by Janna Vallee
