A viral video of the most amazing swimming pool is what inspired my husband and I to visit the luxury hotels in Switzerland. It was never on our radar, but that’s the beauty of social media. You have the opportunity to be exposed to new places you would have never thought of. We are so happy we went because it turned into one of our top trips together! Switzerland exceeded our expectations, and I feel that we garnered the essence of the country by exploring the city, countryside, and Swiss Alps. Since a hotel is what peaked our interest in the first place, I wanted to provide some details on l ..read more

Last year I turned 40 and took my first international trip to Thailand. For most of my life travel was the farthest thing from my mind. At the age of 18, during my first semester in college, I became a mother. I was more concerned about trying to finish school, working, and raising my daughter. It all felt so foreign — unattainable both financially and socially for a young black girl from South Los Angeles in the la ..read more

I decided to spend my birthday last fall in Colombia, on a whim. It’s still one of the best trips I have ever taken. It would be a challenge to pinpoint what I enjoyed most, but it’s probably what I learned about Black history in Colombia. We took several day trips to nearby cities and islands around Cartagena. One of the day trips was to visit San Basilio de Palenque. A little town about an hour and a half away. From my TikTok research, was drawn to this area because of the Black Lives Matter murals. Along with women in colorful dresses, also known as Palenquerias. Photo by Anette Bratteberg ..read more
