ASICS NAGINO Run Unitard Review

So this has taken me by surprise but I’ve actually grown to love the NAGINO Run Unitard – an item in our recent kit drop that I had dreaded to be honest! Here are my thoughts and why you also might find yourself considering a running unitard… The 90s are calling… and amongst all the things that have made a recent comeback – from shell suits to low rise jeans (those can stay in the 90s to be honest!) the unitard seems to have sprung back onto the sporting scene. As a triathlete I’m used to wonderfully unflattering all in one tri-suits, so immediately dismissed this product as ‘not for me ..read more

ASICS TRABUCO MAX 2 Review

I’ve recently been testing the Trabuco Max 2 as part of my ongoing ambassadorship with ASICS and they have rapidly stolen my heart. From the insane colourway to their endless comfort, this hardcore road runner is definitely a convert. Since I moved back to the North West, time outside in nature has become a firm staple of my evenings and weekends – from running along the beach at sunset to bagging Munros up in Glencoe – the Trabuco Max 2 have become my favourite sidekick. The most outstanding feature for me is their comfort and support. The OrthoLite sockliner, Jacquard mesh upper and FF BLAS ..read more

Berlin Marathon race recap

Berlin Marathon was the one that took me by surprise. When I completed marathon number 9 I said I wanted to wait and make number 10 super special – and what followed was the most magical journey of self re-discovery. Running a marathon is so much more than the race itself. It’s the training, the recovery, fuelling, sleeping, dedication and mindset. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and when I was presented with the opportunity to run Berlin marathon at a time when I really needed a purpose, I needed a reason to keep going and I needed a way to find myself again, I simply ..read more

ASICS NOVABLAST 3 Review

I became a NOVABLAST convert back in 2022 when the second iteration of the shoe was included in one of my kit drops. I hadn’t been a fan of the OG NOVABLASTS but with the 2/3rd instalments of the shoes I was instantly drawn to their light, bouncy feel – with my trusty NOVABLASTS rapidly becoming an everyday running shoe. As a great allrounder they were subbed in for anything and everything: track sessions, easy miles, races and when I got my hands on the NOVABLAST 3TR, light trails and mixed terrains. The past couple of months I have been really enjoying running in the NOVABLAST 3 LE shoe ..read more

Our first HYROX experience

Earlier this year, fellow ASICS FrontRunner and complete LEGEND, Diane slid into my DMs with this event she wanted to do, that she thought I might enjoy – Hyrox. I had no idea what it was, but it involved several gruesome mini workouts punctuated by 1km runs, it sounded rather horrifically wonderful, so of course I was onboard. Diane knows I am a YES woman. We signed up to the London ExCeL HYROX women’s doubles. Things are always less scary when you do them with your friends right? As the day approached, I realised how little I knew about what was going on, all I knew, based on my training, wa ..read more

The latest iteration of the NOVABLAST is here! Released in December 2023, the NOVABLAST 4 brags to have all the amazing features of its predecessors, with even more energy return. After being given a pair as part of my ongoing ambassadorship with ASICS (as always, my honest opinion is always given) I’ve spent a couple of weeks putting these to the test, so lets see how they’re getting on…. I’ve been a NOVABLAST fan since the 2nd edition of the shoe, it is my go to everyday running shoe for everything from speed sessions to longer slower runs, although admittedly I don’t go over 10miles in ..read more

Virtual Insanity? Why I Love the Virtual London Marathon

This weekend I participated in my fourth virtual London marathon, crazy I know. This tradition began when the race released its virtual edition in 2020 to allow participants to complete 26.2miles on marathon day in line with COVID-19 restrictions at the time. Myself and my good friend Rowena took ourselves off on a ‘little’ trot around London, fuelled by the desire to feel connected to other runners and the thrill of a race when the world was almost standing still. It poured with rain the entire time but we had a blast. Each year since I’ve participated in the Virtual Marathon. Since 2021 I’ve ..read more

Every action, no matter how small, you take in order to protect the planet counts – every single one. From small sustainable swaps that reduce your consumption and decrease your environmental impact to larger lifestyle changes, lobbying, activism, research and more. Sometimes things may feel meaningless, especially when facing large environmental challenges and government/ big business apathy, but actions matter. Earth Day 2022 focuses on the theme ‘Invest in our Planet’ and calls for action to deliver a green and prosperous future. Everyone is accountable and we all have the power to drive ch ..read more

The Best Vest on Test? ASICS FUJITRAIL 7L Hydration Pack Review

Andy Astfalck: ASICS Frontrunner UK Meeting I’ve recently been testing the ASICS FUJITRAIL 7L running backpack. This was given to me as part of my ASICS FrontRunner kit, but I want to stress all opinions are my own. I frequently run with a pack whether it be making a short bit of my work commute on foot, marathon training, trail running or racing (as it allows you to carry your own water and jacket). Previously I have used the ASICS 5L running pack, which is a very soft vest like pack, with some (albeit limited front pockets) and space for a hydration pack. I’ve ran extensively with this inclu ..read more

Top tips for Cold Water Swimming

Open water swimming is an exhilarating and enjoyable experience. Being in the water, especially colder water has great linkages to boosting mood and encouraging management of anxiety through controlled stress exposure. Each year thousands of people safely experience open water swimming, either as a total newbie or returning swimmer. However, open water offers different challenges to being in the pool- largely linked to deep, cold water and limited visibility. In winter and spring these challenges are exacerbated by the colder temperatures which put more stress on your body than swimming at oth ..read more
