"Quilt Story Time" - Day 2
Quilted Twins Blog

This is one of my earlier quilt attempts. I took this photo back in 2012. I had seen someone make a cute flip flops quilt in a magazine, I believe, and decided to attempt it myself. I don’t remember where I got the pattern for the flip flop, but this was probably my first applique quilt. I loved it - and still like it. I quilted each little block individually first, before joining with the pink sashing. I did have to make the borders in the same style and that was different for me to attempt as it was a Quilt as you Go (QAUG) quilt. Overall, I loved the center of the quilt. I wasn’t equally a ..read more

“Quilt Story Time”!

I have been having some problems with my computer - just started when I’m supposed to be doing blog posts. So, since my husband is still out of town, and I’m not that great with fixing things, I may be doing very short blog posts until he gets back and we can figure out what is wrong. So, if it continues, I will just continue to post a nice photo every day with a link to the pattern or a bit about the pattern if it isn’t my own. Maybe there will be an interesting story of why I decided to make that particular quilt. Since I’ve got a short window of opportunity I’ll let this first post be this ..read more

Another Top - “Hillside Houses”

I know some of you might think the only thing I make are things I design myself or what Rachael asks me to make. Granted, that is the majority of what I make. However, that is not all I like to do nor is it all I ever make. I did just finish the bargello that was designed by Eileen Wright that I wrote about a few days ago. Earlier this year I was looking for something and came across an interesting quilt that was called Hillside Houses. I thought it was interesting and I was intrigued. I considered trying to design something similar but different, but then just decided that the time involved ..read more

Review of 2024 Quilting Goals

I thought I’d do a brief blog post about how my goals are coming along for 2024. Let’s review. Finish 120 charity quilts - I’ve not done any yet Finish 50 quilts or get caught up - Have finished 61. Write up 2 patterns a month for a total of 24 patterns for 2024 - have written up 10 so far in 2024. That’s good for 5 months, so I’m okay on those. Piece 10 quilts from my 2.5” strips and squares. - I’ve finished 1 with several more in the works Give away or sell 10 more of my own quilts than I make in 2024. So far I’ve given away 77, I think - I need to find out where I am exactly. G ..read more

Well, coming on five years after I made this beautiful top, I finished it by quilting it! Finally! I finished this top back in November of 2019. It is made of all upcycled fabrics meaning the fabrics were either duvet covers, sheets, shirts, pjs, etc. I found most of the fabrics at local second hand shops. (I will admit that I’ve not actually been in one of those shops for a year or so now because I have so many of these fabrics!) I really do like this pattern and this particular quilt. I know my husband will like it as well. We’ll keep this in our room. I did make the backing out of second ..read more

Spring is here!

Spring is here in Poland! It’s so pretty! I know that we are expecting a return to some cooler days in the next few days, but I thought I’d take a blog post to show you some of the flowers that we are seeing around where I live. I do think that we may be almost a month ahead with some of the flowers - and that is a bit concerning to me. For example, the forget-me-nots are often in May. I saw a bunch at the church and it is very much the middle of April. So…not sure what’s happening. Maybe you have some of these flowers where you are? I’ll bet you do. The fact is, I missed the better part of th ..read more

My Husband is on His Way Again

As I write this blog post, my husband is on his way to a country in Central Asia. He’ll be there for a about a week and a half, teaching. If you are a praying person, please pray for safety - of the flight and of all the other things that could happen. He reflected about the flight at lunch today mentioning that they will have to fly right over where Iran could be shooting missiles at Israel. Anyway… Thanks. When he goes on these trips, I like to set some “mini goals”. Maybe I could even call them “micro goals” if that is better. Sometimes they are related to the house, quilting or other thin ..read more

Got another box!
Quilted Twins Blog

While I was in the states, my husband got a box from Fran! He left it sitting on the table’s bench until I got back. I decided to unpack it and take the tops over to the church. Oh - and I also was given some tops while in the states. Those I packed up in a couple of boxes and have shipped to myself along with some fabric. It should arrive in about 3-4 weeks from now. We’ll see. If you sent us tops at Quilted Twins for me, thank you! I will get to them in time, Lord willing. (I’m referring to tops for charity quilts for people in Poland). Thank you - everyone for helping me out in this way. I ..read more
