Another trip to Albania in 2021? Are we serious? Yes, we are. We had so many good experiences in Albania during our last roadtrip in spring 2021. Our plan was to drive to Russia from July to October, from St.Petersburg to Murmansk and then to Moscow, but the Russian borders remained closed due to Covid. So what else to do? We did Iceland and Scandinavia already. Portugal and Spain is overcrowded and it is getting difficult to camp wild. So why not explore Kosovo, which we hadn´t on our list so far, and then continue to Greece to enjoy white sandy beaches in October? Sounds like a good plan ..read more

Beginning of 2021 we had to cancel our roadtrip to the Caucasus region, thanks to Corona :-(. But in spring the travel conditions have been made easier in some European countries, and it was possible to enter Albania without any COVID measures (PCR test, quarantine, etc.). So why not Albania? It is a country where you first have to justify yourself. There are so many prejudices around about this country. So let´s travel there and find out. Due to Corona we had to cancel our Caucasus trip. In March 2020 we were ready to start, and then borders closed :-(. What a disappointment to wait for the borders to re-open. End of May it seemed possible that the borders in Europe would open soon. The Balkan route was still closed, so we decided to do a roadtrip through Scandinavia to the North Cape. We did this tour already in 2011 with our motorbike in only 5 weeks, but now we had more time to discover Scandinavia and to enjoy the North Cape with only few other tourists. To bridge the time during Corona lockdown, we did two trips in May 2020 to some beautiful spots in Switzerland. The first trip was to the Jura mountains in the western part of Switzerland, where we drove southwards along the River Doubs. On the way back home we passed the beautiful Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the Bernese Alps. Have a look at our video. The second trip took us to Lake Geneva in the southwestern part of Switzerland. Some impressions from the first vanlife camp, a dedicated area on the Suisse Caravan Salon in Berne, Switzerland. We were invited to join a group of well known Youtubers and Bloggers on that area, to present our vehicles and to share our experiences with others. During the summer we made a 4 months roadtrip to Iceland, driving through Germany and along the Danish west coast to the ferry in Hirtshals/Denmark. First destination were the Faroe islands, which we explored for a few days. Then we continued to Iceland. In Iceland we set the focus on the Westfjords and the highlands. On some routes we were joined by other Mercedes Vario 4x4 owners, which added a lot of fun. So overall, it was the perfect step into longterm traveling, because it tested the vehicle - and us.
