It’s early morning. You’ve stumbled out of bed and made your way to the coffee machine to switch it on. It makes a noise, grumbles, and starts heating up. You do too, but you make more of a groan than a grumble. And what also starts to heat up is the anticipation of having your daily morning coffee. Your morning juice, your liquid gold. It’s what gets you going and kicks you into action. There’s always a build-up of anticipation and hope around the morning coffee. Hope that today the coffee will taste as good as it did yesterday! Even just close to how yesterday tasted would be a win… Please ..read more

Why do we have a coffee recipe? The simple answer is consistency. And for the Home Barista, this is one of the most frustrating challenges we hear. “My coffee tasted amazing yesterday. Today, I did exactly the same process, but it’s nowhere near what it tasted like yesterday. Why?!” When we’re working with people in their homes to help them brew better coffee, our first questions to them are – Did you weigh your coffee dose? Are you timing your extractions? It seems like every second person is a barista these days! Okay, maybe every third.. So, what is it that’s going to make you stand out from the rest of the crowd? It can no longer be a sweet styled moustache, a sleave of tattoo’s or a Steve Zissou beanie – these fads might have once given you a lot of street cred but you’ve now got to give more.  What stands out for Mr Barista in a great barista is their ability to apply what we call the I %er’s to their coffee making. Doing this will take your average barista and make them into a more rounded barista, and also a more round ..read more
