Listening Through the Highs and Lows
Well Christian Woman Blog

There’s a tradition in our family of sharing “highs and lows” around the supper table. It’s a way for us to talk about our day, to celebrate and commiserate with each other. Sometimes the ups and downs are silly, and we enjoy a great laugh. Sometimes they’re painful, and somebody needs a hug and a ..read more

How Important Can That Really Be?
Well Christian Woman Blog

Each of my toes is important to me, but I’m sure glad I’m not just one big toe. Each of my teeth are important to me, but I certainly couldn’t function like I do if I were just one big tooth. We, as the Body of Christ, need one another. We can’t function on our own. God brings us together, so that we can be part of the whole, so we can be unified in bringing Him glory, so that we can have equal concern for each other. We suffer together. We rejoice together.  ..read more

Have you ever experienced fear or pain so intense you wished you could fall asleep and wake up on the other side of it? We all face emotional storms in life that tempt us to give up or run away. I think that’s how David must have been feeling when he penned Psalm 55. On ..read more

Our family is facing my husband’s first longterm deployment this year. I say “long” knowing that six months is not as long as it is for some. But six months qualifies as long for us.  Before my husband entered the military a few years ago, we had spent our entire adult lives serving shoulder to ..read more

Sowing Light Seeds With a Heavy Heart
Well Christian Woman Blog

I wasn’t expecting sadness after making the right decision. I thought light-heartedness would be mine once I turned away from darkness. Turning from sin and choosing God’s way does plant seeds of light and joy, but the important thing to remember about seeds is that they take time. Rest assured there is a good purpose in a prolonged germination. It’s not a grin-and-bear-it situation, designed to test your spiritual endurance; it’s a loving invitation to discover something, Someone… The post Sowing Light Seeds With a Heavy Heart appeared first on Well Christian Woman Blog ..read more

The call of a new year is not so much, “Ready or not, here I come,” as it is, “Ready or not, come.” It’s the invitation of Jesus to come. Come and see. Come, follow. “Ready or not, come” reassures me I have Someone preparing the way and preparing me. The post Ready or Not appeared first on Well Christian Woman Blog ..read more

The Consolation of Christmas

“Be near me, Lord Jesus. I ask Thee to stay close by me forever and love me, I pray.” I’m singing those lyrics a bit more thoughtfully with my children this year. I’m hugging my teens a little tighter, trying to breathe a little deeper, praying for the knot in my stomach to unravel in true trust. For isn’t this what Jesus has done, what He continues to do? He has promised to never leave us or forsake us and to love us with a love from which no power of darkness will ever be able to separate us. There is grace, overflowing grace, for whatever you are facing today too, whatever it is that’s got you kicking yourself, whatever you can’t seem to let go of. Turn to the Lord. He will have compassion! He can even transform whatever feels wasted into a reminder of His rich love and great grace for you. Who Needs Jesus?

Patiently, with immeasurable mercy, God showed me my need. When all the things I thought God needed from me vanished because of my own foolishness, He showed me that He didn’t need a thing from me. But there was something He wanted. He wanted my love. In fact, I came to see that my life — true life — depended upon it. Like I told the cashier on New Year’s Eve, “I sure need Jesus! I need Him everyday!” May God, in His rich mercy and great love, give her eyes of faith to see how much she needs Him too. As we share our stories of faith we spur one another toward a closer walk with God. I encourage you to share your walk through the obstacle course that is your life. The experiences we share may encourage other followers of Jesus to grow in their faith. Let’s know Jesus. Let’s grow in our relationship with Jesus and let’s go and share the love of Jesus so others may also walk with the creator of the universe. God cares!
