It’s Dan Lanning’s third spring in Eugene and while he has everything nailed down procedurally within the program, there are a lot of new faces to get acquainted with and acclimate to how Oregon does things. This will be the first time Oregon will be without Bo Nix at quarterback and while redshirt Austin Novosad would have been a good immediate replacement, the transfer portal allows teams to quickly fill in a hole that normally would take time to do so. Enter Dillon Gabriel. The four-year starter at Oklahoma will have just one year in Eugene, but he brings in plenty of talent and experience ..read more

QUICKIE RECAP When Liberty from Conference USA was announced as Oregon’s opponent for the VRBO Fiesta Bowl there was a national skepticism as to the incredible mismatch between a Power 5 team and Group of 5 team. And as it turned out, that national skepticism was well founded as No. 8 Oregon ( 12-2 ) pounded the No. 23 Flames ( 13-1 ) 45-6 in a lopsided victory that was led on the arm of Bo Nix who tossed 5 touchdown passes and ended his Oregon career as the all-time single-season touchdown passer with 45. It’s not often when a Power 5 school plays an undefeated team in a New Year’s Day bowl and still be favored by more than two touchdowns. That’s the scenario the College Football Playoff committee set up as they scheduled a 13-0 Liberty Flames team out of the Conference USA against a 11-2 Oregon Ducks squad in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. The Ducks are 16.5-point favorites and it would be easy to assume that margin is for good reason. But as we saw last season in the Sugar Bowl with Tulane and USC, sometimes betting point spreads can be oh so wrong. Liberty will come at the Ducks with everything they ..read more

It’s not likely Bo Nix would ever admit to it, but come Monday morning in Glendale, Arizona when he puts on his Oregon uniform for the final time, it’s possible he’ll feel a huge rush of emotion wash over him like none other in his college football career. And it’s certainly understandable if he does. Nix has one of the more storied careers at the quarterback position in college football and not only has the opportunity to put a stamp on one of the greatest seasons in Oregon program history but he also has the opportunity to set the single-season passing percentage record which currently sits ..read more

Oregon Duck Football News

In a world where players opt out of upcoming bowl games in order to prepare for the next stage of their football career, it’s quite refreshing to see players go the opposite way and end their college days on the field. Oregon could have been stripped down to its bare bones with all of the possible opt outs and while the Ducks weren’t completely immune to this new trend, Oregon has plenty of players left to look as it did in the regular season. Quarterback Bo Nix and tailback Bucky Irving will be playing in the Fiesta Bowl against Liberty as is defensive players such as Brandon Dorlus and Jeff ..read more
