Marjorie May has taken on the significant role of representing UUCW in SOPHIA, an organization that advocates for social justice and change. She recently attended SOPHIA’s Annual Community Breakfast with members Mollie Conrad, Mary Binkleman, and Kathy & Charlie Randall. Marjorie was given the honor to deliver the opening reflection. Here is her speech: “Hello, I’m Marjorie May.  I just joined SOPHIA late last year, and I’m so inspired by my experiences so far. Every family needs nutritious food to flourish. More than 44 million people in America are food insecure, including 1 in 5 children. In 2022, 49 million people turned to food banks, food pantries, and community organizations for help providing affordable meals for their families. We can all help, and you have! We filled the donation box at the front of the church in March, providing much-needed assistance to the Pewaukee Food Pantry. Thank you all for your generosity and let’s help them even more by filling the box again during April! Currently, the list of needed items at the Pewaukee Food P ..read more

The Ministerial Search Team is thrilled to announce that we have an accepted offer from our selected candidate. by Kelly Bognar

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the [people] to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery After a very tasty and generous potluck meal, twenty UUCWers gathered in a circle this past Sunday, March 24, 2024, to bring their heads and hearts together. They had come at the invitation of the Transition Team for the last community conversation of the interim ministry. They had come to talk about future possibilities for shared ministry and participation keeping ‘those who are not here yet’ in mind ..read more

World Water Day, an annual United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater is held on March 22nd.  World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. This year’s theme is Leveraging Water for Peace. Water can be a tool for peace when communities and countries cooperate over this precious shared resource.  But, water can also spark and intensify conflict.  When water is scarce or polluted, or when people have unequal, or no access, tens ..read more

Dear UUCW of 2124,  In 2024, we were looking for ways to live into our new mission statement. Our beloved community was excited about our focus on promoting spiritual growth by dismantling white supremacy, becoming more inclusive, working together for social justice advancement and building a joyful community based on love and compassion. Some of us signed up for the Beloved Conversations course to help us recognize systemic racism and white supremacy.  Your church has become a focal point for community engagement, and collaborative action in Brookfield and the greater Milwaukee area ..read more

MISSION: POSSIBLE?  Yes!
Unitarian Universalist Church West
by Kelly Bognar
1M ago
Many amazing things are made possible in our church by our coming together in common purpose to get them done. Our mission is broad, deep, important, and achievable. One critical way we all support each other in this work is happening right now as we each pledge to each other our financial support during the month of March. None of us alone can support all that we do, but together – by pooling our talents and resources – we promote and sustain liberal religious values in our community and in our wider world. I promise to support you and what you care about and invite you to do the same for me ..read more
