Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images The Masters is over, tied with a bow and safely tucked away for another year. New Jersey born but Texas-reared and educated, Scottie Scheffler stayed within a shot of the lead each day, briefly falling back early Sunday before taking control with clutch approaches at #9 and 10. The winds were tough Thursday after the bad weather rolled through; they were brutal Friday and Saturday. The fact only 8 golfers finished under par proved this to be true. No former Bulldogs threatened, but there were some lurking on the 2nd page of the leaderboard. Here’s where the ..read more

After a disappointing SEC Championship performance that included two falls on vault, the GymDogs bounced back with a solid performance in the NCAA Gainesville Regional. The young GymDogs didn’t quite advance to the NCAA Championships. But they did post a season-high total score of 197.425. In fact, it was Georgia’s best Regional score since 2019. It was an encouraging sign for the future after the Dawgs scrambled for much of the year just to put healthy gymnasts on the floor. While the season may have come to an end for the rest of the GymDogs, freshman Lily Smith will be competing this week ..read more

Charlie Condon’s incredible week at the dish helps the Dawgs earn series win over Mizzou The Georgia Bulldogs wrapped up a successful week of play last night as the Diamond Dawgs were able to pick up a series win over the Missouri Tigers in game three by final score of 10-7. Prior to the Missouri series, Georgia kicked off their week by earning a big 15-5 win over the Kennesaw State Owls. The Diamond Dawgs’ lineup absolutely dominated all throughout as five players accounted for three hits each as the entire lineup went a combined 20-for-40 at the plate on the day. G Day Rapid Reaction: Solid Defense, Zero Injuries Make For Successful Spring Scrimmage

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports G Day 2024 is in the books, with the Red team downing the Black 20-20. Or maybe it was the other way around. I’m just going to say the ‘Dawgs were undefeated on this day. A few quick thoughts: CJ Allen looks just as quick and aggressive as he did during his standout freshman season. His interception of Carson Beck in the first half, reading the QB’s eyes then laying out to make the grab, was an elite play. Carson Beck threw 45 passes, which has to be a spring game record for a Bulldog starting quarterback. I’m not sure I’d expect to see him throw the ball on 75% o ..read more

Three Players We’re Watching At G-Day

Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports It’s common knowledge that you can’t read too much into the results of a spring football game. I myself have subscribed to this position for many years, saying on this site and wherever else I comment on college football that if G-Day really counted for much then Torin Kirtsey would have a mantle full of Heisman trophies. That being said, I’ve also come to realize that you do occasionally get a tantalizing glimpse into the potential of a player or two on this day. Witness, for example, Brock Bowers’ performance in 2021. That same spring day freshman Javon Bu ..read more

Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK The Augusta National golf course is one of the most difficult you’ll find on a good day. It’s even more so when polished to a razor’s edge for tournament play. But Thursday’s first round of the 2024 Masters introduced yet another dimension to the gorgeous nightmare of a round at Augusta. After rain swept through overnight and delayed the start of the tournament a cold front moved through, bringing steady winds of 20 miles per hour and occasional gusts into the 30s. No less an authority than Tiger Woods, who’s played the course for thirty years no ..read more

Photo by Augusta National/Getty Images Welcome to spring. This newsflash is for our northern readership, who are getting over a recent snowstorm. Most of us in or near God’s Country have already had a handful of mid-80s temps, and several weeks of pollen-covered cars and porches. But today is the the first day of Masters Week and around the world this heralds the arrival of vernal sunshine and an end to Old Man Winter’s chilling grip. This isn’t the first day patrons have been allowed on the Masters grounds, however. In a sign of the times, Augusta National has already opened its gates for not ..read more

NIT Semi-Final Preview And Open Thread: Dawgs Take On Veteran Seton Hall Squad With Something To Prove

Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports Georgia will tip off tonight against #1 seed Seton Hall in the semi-finals of the NIT, and will look to make history in the process. April 2nd ties the record for the latest Georgia has played post-season basketball. The last time the Hoop Hounds were in action on this date was 1983, when they lost 67-60 in the Final Four to Jim Valvano’s NC State Wolfpack, the team of destiny that would go on to knock off Houston for the title. Admittedly the stakes are a little lower this April 2nd. Georgia is looking to make the NIT finals for the first time in school history ..read more
