The 23-Meter high (75 ft.) lighthouse at Rudbjerg Knude on the West Coast of Denmark
A Desert-Like Experience Along the West Coast of Denmark Hiking the Sand Dunes at Rudbjerg Knude Lighthouse
Along the west coast of Denmark, in Rudbjerg, you will find a gem hidden in the desert-like dunes. The lighthouse at Lønstrup Klint was built in 1899 and in 2019 it was moved further inland by 70 meters as it was feared the lighthouse otherwise would have disappeared into the North Sea due to erosion.
It is a surreal experience as you approach the lighthouse and see it from a distance for ..read more

Fishermen on the beach in Klitmøller, Denmark
A Road Trip Through Vendsyssel on the Danish West Coast
In the Northwestern part of Denmark, you will find the region named “Vendsyssel”. This is only about an hour’s drive north of where I grew up in Lemvig, and yet there are many parts of Vendsyssel I had never seen or places I hadn’t visited since I was a kid.
When we found ourselves in Lemvig last summer we decided on a one-day, one-night road trip up the West Coast to Klitmøller, Blokhus, and Løkken.
A sure sign that Klitmøller is a surf town

The 41-Meter High Sandhill Bluffs at Bovbjerg, Denmark
A Return to an Old Favorite
I grew up near Bovbjerg, in the small town of Lemvig on the Danish West Coast. When we returned for a visit last summer, Bovbjerg, as usual, was on our itinerary. It’s a place that soothes our souls, the views are breathtaking, and it’s a place where the fresh air can clear your mind in no time.
The setting on the Danish West Coast is framed by the 41-meter-high sand bluffs, the North Sea, and wooden stairs that will lead you from the bluffs to the beach below.
The stairs leading you from ..read more

Our First Visit to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico Picking the Right Vacation for the Right Time
We had lots of ideas on the table for a quick winter break in mid-December and opted for a seven-night, all-inclusive stay with Air Canada Vacations on the Mexican Riviera at the Hotel Grand Riviera Princess Resort.
If you have followed our travel blog in the past you may have noticed, that this is not our usual format of travel but after a long stint of work, we were looking for a hassle-free solution. One where we didn’t have to plan much, didn’t have to c ..read more

One of the many exhibit areas at the Ny Carsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen
We Pay a Visit to Glyptoteket in Copenhagen
Once or twice over the years, we poked our heads into the main foyer of the Ny Carlberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen but we never took our time to fully explore this enchanting display of sculptures and art in the heart of Copenhagen.
We are a couple in our late fifties who lived in Denmark up until the early nineties and since then moved to Canada. On a recent visit to Copenhagen, we decided to make amends and booked tickets to the Glyptotek.

Hiking near Ballebjerg, Samsø
A Three-Day Getaway to the Quaint Island of Samsø in Denmark
We have lived in Denmark for almost three decades and visited numerous times since moving to Canada and yet, we had never been to Samsø. I am not sure why we procrastinated for so long but we were about to find out that we had been missing out on a hidden gem.
Samsø is a quaint island located in the sea of Kattegat between Jutland and Sealand in Denmark and is known for its laid-back atmosphere, stunning coastline, and namely summer tourism, music festivals, food, arts, crafts, and marine ..read more

Our 36th wedding anniversary was coming up and we wanted to do something special. Since our 5050 travel project we were hungering for new scenery and a memorable experience.
It had been almost three decades since we last made a trip out to Tofino and Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island and it was all but a distant memory.

The viewpoint for the Cathedral Cove walk in New Zealand
Road Trip - Coromandel Peninsula
It is a strange feeling to enter this blog post as it will be the final installment from our 5050 travel project which had us visiting 50 countries in 50 months. There will be more travel posts but it will be outside the scope of the initial project that laid the ground for this site.
After almost a month in New Zealand, we had time for one more road trip starting out in Lucas Heights near Auckland. The Coromandel Peninsula had been recommended to us by our friends Sharon and Leighton as it ..read more

Family visit in St. Marys, Ontario. Walking down Queen Street East.
A Family Visit To Ontario
It had been 811 days since we last boarded a flight. A visit with Di’s mom and brother in St. Marys was overdue. Our last stop in Ontario was back in 2017 during our 5050 travel quest.
We jumped on the chance for an Ontario trip when we found return flights for CDN $106.00 per person with Swoop Airlines between Vancouver and Hamilton. Hard to resist.

Billboards in the centre of Auckland, New Zealand
Summer Days in Auckland With a Fujifilm X-Pro2 and XF 35mm f/1.4 R
During our month in New Zealand, we made it to downtown Auckland on a couple of occasions. On our first visit, we parked our borrowed Mini near the Devonport Ferry Terminal and took the ferry back and forth.
It was a perfect way to see the city from the water and then dive deeper with the camera. We met Josh for lunch and later for coffee and a street photography session. On the second visit, we had just returned from a road trip to Coromandel. Stay tuned for that ..read more
