One thing I’ve always been proud of is my ability to stay focused. I can keep my eye on the metaphorical ball even if it’s moving fast. This kind of hyper-focus can be both a strength and a weakness. Losing Marcia, my wife of 14 years was incredibly difficult. Her absence created a real void in my life, and suddenly nothing seemed as important as my family. Everyone has some silly line that makes the family giggle. Ours is “They didn’t teach us that at Jones County Junior College.” I didn’t really recognize that I was saying that until my young son, Joey, pointed it out one time.
