What if I told you that the Bears won’t play an NFC North opponent until Week 11, forcing them into intra-divisional games in six of the season’s final eight weeks? The second half of the season will feel like every game is a postseason tilt. Stock up on your preferred brand of antacids.
At least the video release is a warm and wonderful tribute to filmmaker John Hughes. Anthony “Spice” Adams is wonderful as the school principal, but Matt Eberflus could use some acting lessons. Jake Johnson provides the narration.
The season moves pretty fast.

John Kosko of Pro Football Focus is assessing and ranking position groups across the NFL, and according to Klosko, the Bears have the best receiver group in the NFL. That’s a welcome revelation considering how much the room has changed since GM Ryan Poles arrived.

The Bears signed fourth-round draft choice Tory Taylor to a four-year deal on Saturday, the team announced.

Taylor, who starred for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is the third-earliest punter taken in Bears common draft history. The Bears selected Chris Gardocki in the third round in 1991. They also chose Todd Sauerbrun in the second round back in 1995. Both were All-Pros, with Gardocki winning a Super Bowl and Sauerbrun going to multiple Pro Bowls. None of those accolades came while with the Bears ..read more

If any other team drafted Rome Odunze, he’d be THE story of minicamp in that city. But the Bears drafted Caleb Williams first, so Odunze is essentially pick 1B, and he avoids the hype that Williams and other top-10 selections are getting this spring. Odunze was asked Friday if that takes some pressure off him.
“I wouldn’t say [it’s] easier,” Odunze said. “We’re both coming in as rookies trying to do our best to get involved with the culture [of] this organization and be the best teammates possible that we can be. I think [Williams is] doing that tremendously, and I’m trying my best at it, as w ..read more

“Hope springs is eternal” is an often-used axiom when MLB players convene for spring training each new season. The Bears can certainly apply that turn of phrase now that Caleb Williams has been named the team’s No. 1 quarterback. Williams represents a new hope of sorts. Chicago has an alleged quarterback curse, and the rookie is expected to break that.
However, there is a lot more to the 2024-25 Bears than just Williams. Chicago finished 7-10 last season, including four losses decided by a touchdown or less. The Panthers finished with the NFL’s worst record, giving the Bears the No. 1 pick in ..read more

Surprise!
Not really.
Caleb Williams named Bears starter.
Of course. Seems obvious.
But 3 years ago Justin Fields sat and watched Andy Dalton (!) get the first team reps.

“No conversation,” head coach Matt Eberflus said ahead of the Bears’ rookie minicamp. “He’s the starter.”
Expect pushback by the Justin Fields fans who have now switched their allegiance to Tyson Bagent. Everyone else has known Caleb Williams would be QB1 since before Fields wa ..read more

The draft is over, and the Bears have their quarterback of the future. The Bears selected Caleb Williams first overall. He’s already begun to acclimate himself to the Bears and the NFL, and he’s taking in Chicago’s best. Of course, he bonded with fellow first-rounder Rome Odunze, but he’s also spending time with Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, Cole Kmet, and other teammates. Williams is getting standing ovations everywhere he goes in Chicago, and the pressure seems high. Justin Fields has departed after three losing seasons, and the fans are ready for the Bears to be a winning franchise again. That me ..read more

With the NFL Draft officially in the books, there’s just one big event left on the NFL’s offseason calendar – its schedule release. The only problem with this year’s event is that no one knows when the schedule will drop. Colts owner Jim Irsay wants fans to start preparing.
I smell a 2024 SCHEDULE coming out soon…
— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) May 7, 2024
The schedule usually comes out the second Thursday in May, but because that occurs in two days, it’s more likely we’ll see the NFL make an announcement next week. May 15 or 16 probably makes the most sense.
Let’s look at what is known about ..read more

The 2024 NFL draft has come and gone, and teams are beginning to bring rookies into camp. The Bears first selected Caleb Williams, as everyone expected they would, and then they selected Rome Odunze at nine. The Bears focused on offense and selected Kiren Amegadjie in the third round. After Williams, no one was sure who Ryan Poles would draft, and maybe Poles himself was unsure. However, Poles may have tipped his hand and shared more than intended. Could he have pivoted at the last moment and drafted his second choice?

The NFL draft is complete, and it was historic. Teams drafted six quarterbacks in the top 12 for the first time, and 23 offensive players drafted broke another record. All NFC North teams have drafted a quarterback in the last two years, but only the Bears and Vikings used a first-round pick. The division is evolving, and the margin of talent is narrowing. Each team could be in play to win the division if they draft well, and these are my NFC North draft grades for round one.
