Now in their eighteenth year, the Library Research Awards recognize and reward Loyola Marymount University students whose research makes expert and creative use of the services, resources, and collections of the William H. Hannon Library to produce a scholarly or creative work. Each entry includes the research project or paper, an essay explaining how the student conducted their research and used library resources, a bibliography, and a letter of nomination from the faculty member who assigned the initial paper or project. This student-curated exhibit is designed to spark conversations between the university’s storied archival collections, the ingenuity of our student curators, and the diverse community beyond Loyola Marymount University. We are pleased to announce the 2024 cohort of scholars for the Institute for Research Design in Librarianship (IRDL) Online. This year, the William H. As part of our commitment to highlighting Indigenous voices and perspectives in our collections, the William H. Hannon Library has published a new open educational resource: a digital bibliography of published and archival resources on the Gabrielino-Tongva tribe. This openly licensed, annotated bibliography builds upon an earlier printed version and covers the years 1723-2023. Wiley Transformative Agreement Extended

Through a transformative agreement negotiated by our e-resources consortium, the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), Loyola Marymount University faculty and staff may publish original research and review articles open access in any of Wiley’s 1400+ hybrid journals (subscription-based journals which offer an open access option) at no charge to the author. This new agreement extends the pre-existing SCELC Wiley Transformative Agreement through 2026. Hannon Library has digitized 43 issues of Vida, a student-run newspaper that amplified the voices and concerns of the Chicana/o/x and other marginalized communities at Loyola Marymount University from the early 1970s until the late 1990s.
