KANSAS CITY, Mo. — To the victor belong the spoils, and after Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones and even head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach received pay bumps for the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl triumphs, Monday was Travis Kelce’s day for the spoils. The 34-year-old tight end signed a restructured contract featuring a $4 million raise and $17 million guaranteed in 2024. Most of the $34.25 million becomes fully guaranteed in March 2025, making Kelce the league’s highest-paid tight end with a two-year deal averaging $17.125 million. That lifts Kelce ahead of the $17 million avera ..read more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After exploring the 2024 NFL Draft board in the first Chiefs Digest mock draft and trading up for a receiver in version 2.0, now it’s time to see what a left-tackle-or-bust draft might look like for Kansas City. This draft is different from the first two in that a draft simulator wasn’t used. The exercise was conducted by Nick Jacobs and myself for the 41 is the Mic podcast as an idealistic mock draft for the Chiefs. The draft board by The Athletic‘s Dane Brugler was the guide to ensure there wouldn’t be any unrealistic selections, such as taking receiver Marvin Harrison Jr ..read more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — We’re less than a week away from the NFL Draft, and we’re deep in mock draft season. In the Chiefs Digest mock draft 2.0, it’s time to get aggressive. For this mock draft, we’re sticking with the Pro Football Focus simulator because I want some consistency from mock draft 1.0, and I want to make some trades, and they have a decent trade AI. We’re going middle settings for public versus the PFF board and positional value. We’re going higher on draft for needs and lower on randomness. I want teams making smart decisions in this draft without much good luck coming my way. Round ..read more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs will bring back all but one member of their assistant coaching staff from the group that led them to a win in Super Bowl LVIII, with the only changes coming on the defensive side of the football. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced at the NFL Combine that outside linebackers coach Ken Flajole had retired. Defensive assistant Rod Wilson will move into that role now, while Alex Whittingham, formerly defensive quality control coach, moves back to a defensive assistant role with a larger portfolio than in his previous role. The club also hired Louie Addazio to step ..read more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In just 13 days, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach in his staff will bunker down in the warroom at One Arrowhead Drive for the 2024 NFL Draft, and between now and then there will be thousands upon thousands of mock drafts projecting who will be selected by each club. This is one of them. As I explain each season, I favor using online simulators for my mock drafts to create the obstacle of an opponent. It’s not very challenging if I can imagine a top-15 player falling to No. 32 or rationalize taking a player in the second round because one analyst slaps a fifth-round grade o ..read more
