On This Day In Aviation History - 25 June 1946
First flight of the Northrop XB-35 Flying Wing. Serial number 42-13603, lifted off from the factory's airfield at Hawthorne, California, and landed at Muroc Army Air Field (Edwards Air Force Base). The flight lasted for roughly 55 minutes.

On This Day In Aviation History - 21 April 1972
At 02:23:35 UTC, Lunar Module Orion (LM-11) touched down on the surface of the Moon at the Descartes Highlands.
The Mission Commander, Captain John Watts Young, United States Navy, and Lunar Module Pilot Lieutenant Colonel Charles M. Duke, Jr., United States Air Force, were onboard. The pair were the ninth and tenth humans to step foot on the Moon.

On This Day In Aviation History - 11 March 1993
The first flight of the Airbus A321 took place thirty years ago today. The type has gone on to see widespread use by commercial airlines worldwide, with 2,749 built as of 28 February 2023.
Lufhthansa had the honor of introducing the A321 into commercial service in 1994.

On This Day In Aviation History - 16 February 1946
The Sikorsky S-51 prototype, NX92800, made its first flight with test pilot Dimitry D. “Jimmy” Viner at the controls. Viner later made the first civilian rescue using a helicopter.
Although intended for commercial use, the S-51 was widely used by military personnel worldwide.
