Staying connected with family and friends is valuable anytime - but perhaps more-so this holiday season.    Personalized messages are a direct 'touch' from people who care for us. I know I appreciate when I am addressed by name, especially when I see my name on a custom printed gift - it sparks sensations of joy and pleasure.  A serious dopamine hit! Receiving a personalized short and meaningful message, whether heartfelt, ironic, or comedic, they provide an extra special touch, and let people know how much thought and effort yo ..read more

As many of you know, Roast House has committed to buying exclusively from certified organic and rainforest alliance producers since 2010. Alongside our value of preserving our beloved coffee plants, we focus our sourcing energies on long-term relationship coffees. With the help of 3 importer partners, we aim to buy from the same producers each year with the goal of expanding our support of those producers as we grow.  Providing stability in our supply chain by committing to buying year after year is incredibly important to us. Founded on Values
Roast House Coffee Blog

Over the past few years, we've spent buckets of time doubling down on the values Roast House was founded on. No better way to keep building our roots than to sit down with Deb and hear what started it all! Q: Why did you get into coffee in the first place? Truthfully, it was to save my soul. As business developer/manager, I loved creating, expanding the law practice my (then) husband and I had across the state.  It was challenging, hard work, long hours and exhilarating!  We made gobs of money.  Coming from an immigrant family - it was a dream come true.  As ..read more

Exactly one year ago, we set out to create a dynamite single-serve decaf coffee. After exploring several options, by far our favorite cup profile was created by the fine folks at Swift Cup taking our organic House Decaf. After releasing a few offerings Fall of 2022, the response was incredible! Our instant coffee was being used in cocktails, barbecue sauces, baked goodies, and fueling bucket loads of outdoor adventures. That's why we decided to expand our offerings in 2023. Through the magical help of  our friends at Maker + Made, we are now excited to release 5 offerings ..read more

Coffee and Bikes

Coffee and bikes are kind of our jam! I sat down with Deb, our founder, to ask her what she loved most about bikes (besides the obvious of them being wicked sweet). Q: Deb, why did you get into cycling and what kept you riding? Living in a time of seriously threatened resources it didn't take much thought to adjust my lifestyle to lessen dependency where I can.  Being within a couple miles from my workplace and downhill, biking to work made perfect sense.  Easy, sweat-free exercise (at least the downhill portion)  No daily parking expense  Hardly ever had to pu ..read more

Sometimes you just need to feel fancy and take extra time brewing up your favorite coffee in the morning... Pour over coffee is a ritual: wake up, bring your water to a boil, grind your coffee, and take the next 4 minutes brewing it up. The reward? Good smells, good vibes, and damn good coffee. If you are new to specialty coffee or coffee in general and have been wondering about manual brew methods, then let us entertain you.  Long before espresso machines, coffee was made simply by heating ground coffee in a pot with water. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that the first pour over was ..read more

When the temperature hits triple digits, we reach for a frosty one! Since 2015 we’ve been brewing our own cold brew, evolving from brewing and bottling by-hand to building one of the first commercial cold brew spaces in Spokane. The beauty of cold brew coffee is the simplicity of the recipe. There is also a more complicated and delicious way to brew coffee in the specialty coffee industry. We’ll put both recipes down below for you to try out at home. Cold brew coffee is simply coarsely ground coffee and room temperature water that brews a concentrate that can be diluted with your choice of ..read more

Coffee Bag Price Increase + Ways You Can Still Save!

Our dedication to sourcing organic coffees includes supporting producers by paying sustainable wages and developing long-term relationships. In order to continue to support those relationships, we actively engage in paying more for our coffee. While we insulate our community from those price increases as best we can, this is a year we simply cannot do that in order to continue to live in those values. We owe it to the producers and our team, to price our coffees sustainably.  As of January 1st, 2022, our prices on bags of coffee will increase. The Good News- you are strengthening relati ..read more

What Is HIZU Sparkling Tea?
Roast House Coffee Blog

After a day of tasting countless coffees to ensure your cup is always top notch, we often find ourselves needing a lil' break during the day to avoid all those fun anxiety attacks. Back in 2015, Deb would brew up a concentrate of Hibiscus tea and cut it with soda water during the summer to stay cool- that quickly became a roastery staple. Plus, Hibiscus tea is bright, colorful, and free of any caffeine- a perfect afternoon or evening beverage. Before we knew it, we were making it by the gallon. After a couple of years, when we built our commercial cold brewery to bottle our F-Bomb Nitro Cold ..read more
