While City Hunter is set in Japan (in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district to be exact), the film’s star Ryohei Suzuki shared that he went to the Philippines to prepare for his role as Ryo Saeba.
There may be City Hunter fans in the Philippines, but Ryo Saeba doesn’t go here as the original series shows him mainly in Shinjuku as his clientele as a Sweeper is in Tokyo. Though there’s a good reason for Suzuki to visit the Philippines, and that is for gun training.

Ahead of the City Hunter live-action movie’s release on Netflix, we got to chat with Ryohei Suzuki who stars as Ryo Saeba in the film.
During our conversation, Suzuki shared some interesting stories about the movie’s production, including a funny and wild moment while filming in Shinjuku. Suzuki also revealed that he went to the Philippines for a couple of days to train, and he shared how he and co-star Misato Morita (as Kaori) were able to have great chemistry on-screen.

It has been four weeks since the film was released in the country, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire continues to dominate the PH box office.

Ahead of the film’s theatrical release next week, Universal Pictures announced that The Fall Guy is getting sneak preview screenings in the Philippines on April 26 and 27.

Paramount Pictures confirmed the release date of the upcoming animated movie Transformers One in the Philippines.
Unlike last year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, this new movie is an animated film, and it serves as an origin story for the franchise as it’s set on the planet Cybertron. It stars Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax or Optimus Prime, and it will explore how Optimus Prime and Megatron evolved from being brothers-in-arms to enemies.

After its release in Japanese cinemas back in February, the Haikyuu: The Dumpster Battle movie finally has an official cinema release month in the Philippines.
As confirmed by Medialink (via Anime News Network), the new Haikyuu film will be released in Southeast Asian cinemas in May 2024. Specifically, the movie is confirmed to be released by Medialink in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. After its release date announcement, the City Hunter live-action movie from Netflix just got an official trailer that shows off lots of new footage.
While Netflix released a visual before this, the new City Hunter live-action trailer finally gives us our best look yet at the upcoming movie that stars Ryohei Suzuki as the “Sweeper” Ryo Saeba. Also in the trailer is Misato Morita as Kaoru Makimura, Ryo’s equally iconic partner in the original manga/anime series.

The upcoming My Hero Academia: You’re Next movie just got a new trailer ahead of its August cinema release date in Japan.
This is the fourth movie in the franchise, and it’s coming three years after the third movie’s release. As with pretty much all of the My Hero Academia anime movies, this one isn’t canon, though on the flip side, this makes it easy to watch even for fans who aren’t caught up with the anime series.
