August 14, 2022 8:24PM PT Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog In our Preseason Game Recap series, we’ll be looking at the major takeaways from each Preseason game, with a particular focus on rookies and fringe roster players. Additionally, each week we’ll be covering the ongoing QB competition, as this remains perhaps the most important battle going into the season. The QB Competition Remains Undecided This battle between Geno Smith and Drew Lock will likely remain close throughout the remainder of the Preseason games and this game did little to move the needle in either direction. March 3, 2022 12:04PM PST Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog After a disappointing 2021 NFL draft where the Seahawks only picked three times, the Seahawks are once again without a first-round pick due to their trade for Jamal Adams. Ahead of the NFL scouting combine, we take a look at which players the Seahawks could select with each of their draft picks. Team Needs First, we’ll take a look at which positions the Seahawks need to fill through the offseason while also acknowledging that Free Agency is not set to begin until March 16th. To make things easier, we’ll make a few assumptions about ..read more

Week 5 Game Recap: SEA vs. MIN

Let’s just get this out of the way. There seems to be quite some controversy surrounding the fumble at the end of the game. Even if it wasn't a fumble, would it have mattered? Nothing’s impossible, but it was highly IMPROBABLE that they would get into field goal range or score a touchdown with that little time remaining. Of course, that’s also what the Saints said right before the Minneapolis Miracle. Moving on, I don’t think Seattle had any business winning this game, but they don’t have a lot of business winning a lot of games. Things just work out differently when Russell Carrington Wilson ..read more

State of Defense: Just How Bad is Seattle’s Defensive Line through Week 3?

All offseason, the defensive line has been a constant concern. Through 3 weeks of the 2020 NFL season, the eye test suggests that the concerns were indeed valid. In this article, I’ll go through various statistics and metrics to assess just how the defensive line has fared through Week 3. I’ll be using advanced data from a variety of sources: ESPN Analytics, Pro Football Reference (“PFR”), Football Outsiders (“FO”), and other widely available team statistics. I’ve chosen to stay away from more simple metrics, such as total pressures and sacks, as they don’t give a complete picture of the defen ..read more

Dec 30, 2020, 9:46AM PST Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog This was by FAR the most satisfying win of the season. Not only did the Seahawks clinch their first division title since 2016, but they did so against the Los Angeles Rams, a team that has given Pete Carroll’s squads fits since McVay entered the league in 2017. For one, the Seahawks had the chance to prove that their defensive resurgence is certainly real, holding a Rams team that was averaging 24.6 PPG entering this week to just a measly 9 points. Despite being outpaced in nearly every offensive category, the Seattle defense held th ..read more

State of Defense: Defensive Primer for the 2021 Season

Sep 14, 2021, 7:55AM PDT Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog While other teams made splashy signings and high draft picks this off season, the Seahawks defense remains nearly fully intact from the 2020 NFL season. The Flock lost veteran defensive starters Griffin, Reed and Wright this off season, yet were able to retain all of its young core talent. We’ll start off with the most dreaded group of all for the year: the corners. Cornerbacks Very few positions have remained in good or stable condition since the glory days of the LOB. The cornerback position is unfortunately still not one of them ..read more

A lot of conversation this year has been centered around Seattle’s historically porous defense and rightfully so. Far too many times this season has Russell Wilson bailed out the Seahawks defense. This was not the case against the Eagles. The Seahawks defense, by far, played their best game of the season. For most of the first half, the defense was suffocating, forcing FIVE consecutive 3 and outs to begin the game. The Eagles didn’t even register a first down until 4:46 left in the 2nd quarter and didn’t score until the final seconds right before the half, largely due to a BLATANT intentional ..read more

Mar 26, 2021 12:02PM PDT Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog EDIT: Literally five minutes after this article was posted, Ian Rapoport announced that the Seahawks signed Al Woods (34) to a 1-year $3.0M deal with $750K guaranteed. Woods is primarily known as a run-stuffer and should serve as depth behind Poona Ford, who could ultimately be moved to 3-tech, as detailed below. Stay tuned for updates. While the Defensive Line was a big question mark for the Seahawks heading into the offseason, the focus was primarily geared towards Edge Rushers, as the Seahawks were largely expected to keep their t ..read more

Player Praise: David Moore – Getting Moore for Less

by SeaFlock Blogger

After his breakout season in 2018, most notably his 4th down game-winner against the Panthers, many fans, including myself, expected Moore to become the next late-round wide receiver gem. However, many fans gave up hope on David Moore following his disappointing 2019 campaign as he battled through a shoulder injury. Blame it on the injury or the emergence of DK Metcalf, bottom line is Moore failed to meet expectations in 2019. Entering the 2020 offseason, David Moore was a restricted free agent (RFA) and the Seahawks signed him to an original-round tender and a 2.1M salary, a reasonable amount ..read more

Dec 23, 2020, 12:22PM PST Follow us on Twitter @SeaFlockBlog The Seattle offense continued its downward trajectory against the Football Team, losing in almost every offensive statistical category except points (the ONLY one that matters). After a stellar first half on both sides of the ball against a truly underrated Washington team, Seattle took its foot off the gas and let the Dwayne Haskins led Football Team dink-and-dunk its way into a potential game-winning drive. Did we expect anything less from this team? The vaunted top-5 Washington defense proved to be an issue for the Seahawks on Su ..read more
