Hey! I'm Nick. I am an NYC based filmmaker and photographer that loves shooting on film and embracing the serendipitous nature of the analogue medium. I aim to create images and films that aren't cheesy or hyper-real but instead are gorgeous one-of-a-kind works, imperfections and all.

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared a wedding on my blog but that’s not to say I haven’t been shooting them! Wanted to share a bit of a throwback favorite from 2021. COVID did obviously eliminate weddings for the NYC area for pretty much all of 2020 but I did end up shooting some lovely 2021 weddings including Grace and Will’s in Connecticut. You can see their wonderful little Super 8 highlight film below.
The weather was amazing. The house and barn were beautiful. The guests were hilarious. Grace and Will were looking stunning! Chairs were raised. It was a really good time and their ..read more

Emily Ratajkowski (@emrata) at the Cult Gaia opening on 8x10 Polaroid film
Last February, I was hired to shoot some large format 8x10 Polaroids at a store opening party for the fashion brand, Cult Gaia, in SoHo. The event was packed and had some notable guests including Emily Ratajkowski.

I was shooting for Brooklyn Film Camera and had my buddy Sam Dole assist me. Sam previously did some assisting for the 1923 shoot I also assisted on and is well-versed in all things large format. We set up outside the store right next to their red c ..read more

I love shooting NYFW. It’s fun. It’s exhausting. The outfits are insane. You meet cool people. The energy is fantastic. So when my friend, Burke, asked me to shoot some BTS alongside him at the Inherent fashion show at NYFW back in February and said “bring whatever cameras you want”, I was in.

So with that much flexibility... I’ll share a bit about the cameras I ended up bringing for those interested…
I’m always up for a challenge, so I brought my Graflex Super D large format SLR camera with some BW film ..read more

With a little bit of a wedding backlog, this one is from before the world went crazy. It’s Tori and Eric’s Hudson Valley wedding on Super 8 and Polaroids! They had a lovely little ceremony upstate in the Hudson Valley literally overlooking the Hudson River. It was stunning! Take a look below!
I also was shooting a bit of instant film that day and got some truly wonderful moments on the custom Instax camera I was using. The black and white instant film really just fits so well with weddings. So classic and chic!

I have kinda been failing at this blog for the last couple of years (wonder if there’s…. something happening in the world that’s stifling creativity lately? Hmm…) so I figured might as well sneak in one last post into 2021. A brief shoot with Paloma on everything from tiny 35mm up to 4x5 and a couple of my earliest 8x10 portraits.
Definitely one of my favorites was almost one of the first photos of the day. Trying to get into the flow and just being goofy with posing hands and we landed on this funky pretzel arm pose and combined with the expired Polaroid 669 film, it really hits hard.

Rosario Dawson on expired Polaroid 669 film
Been a little while since I’ve written here but that definitely doesn’t mean I haven’t been shooting. I’ve been burning through film like mad! I just happened to get back a newly modified antique (or vintage should I say) large format camera the week of New York Fashion Week so figured it was a good opportunity to test it out!
A little more background on the camera (or skip this for the cool photos!)... it is a late 1940s Graflex Super D 3x4 large format SLR camera. Not your average SLR as it’s about 10x as big and with film to match and you look d ..read more

A long overdue blog post! I recently released a new music video in collaboration with Halla Creative for the musician, Matty Marz! And in the midst of a pandemic no less.
I first met Matty when I shot some portraits for him last December, my first indoor shoot since the beginning of the pandemic but was totally worth it. My wife Halla (of Halla Creative) and I were masked up and ready to shoot when Matty came over and we just went off on that shoot. Matty told us he was planning a music video for his upcoming single “Nu Eyes” and wanted us on the project to shoot it on film! So check out the ..read more

Back in February juuuuust before the pandemic really locked down NYC, a few friends and I got together to hang out and shoot a bit. I was showing my buddy. Jordan, who shoots more Polaroids than even me, how to use a large format 4x5 camera with Polaroid film. Caity was a friend of his who modeled and was kind enough to hang out in front of the camera for some of the night.

It’s hard to remember now but there used to be a time that one could travel and it was rather lovely. Last year around this time I had the chance to travel with some friends to their family’s vacation home in Sperlonga, Italy and I couldn’t pass that up! It was a brief but relaxing trip just hanging out in this small beach town halfway between Rome and Naples. A bit different than American beach towns and I am for it!
I did, of course, have to bring some cameras and, if ya know me at all, it wasn’t just one. I did manage to fit them into a small shoulder sling though so it wasn’t too bad. A ..read more

Before the pandemic really locked down NYC, I was shooting portraits as a creative outlet and mixing various cameras and formats. I chatted with Demi who was playing a concert with another musician I’d worked with and we met up for a quick shoot back in February.
I shot just a bit of expired Super 8 film that day and edited it down into a little fashion film featuring a taste of Demi’s personality while rocking a vintage jean jacket of mine.
