Following his team’s ugly 4-0 loss to the San Diego Padres in front of another sold out Petco Park crowd of 43,881 (a good many of whom were Dodgers fans) during which his team managed only four hits (three singles and one double) and only one walk (Andy Pages in the top of the fifth inning to give the Dodgers their first base runner of the game), Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters: “They caught an early lead and we just didn’t threaten.” (SportsNet LA) Truer words have never been spoken. Roberts’ team went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base, which l ..read more

A Sign of What’s to Come?

There are a good many who believe that the 2024 National League West Division will come down to a hard-fought battle between the current 26-14 NL West first place Los Angeles Dodgers and the current 21-20 NL West second place San Diego Padres. Following Friday’s 2-1 Padres win over the Dodgers, there are probably a good many more. “I don’t talk about playoff atmospher very often in the regular season, but today it felt like that,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, after his team’s disappointing loss to the Friars in Game-1 of a three-game set against San Diego in front of a sold out Petco Par ..read more

Dodgers Prepare for ‘Biggest Series of Season’
Think Blue LA
by Ron Cervenka

After only 39 games into the 2024 regular season, it’s a bit premature to consider any series ‘the biggest series of the season.’ But truth be told, this weekend’s three-game set with the division-rival San Diego Padres at what figures to be a less-than-friendly Petco Park, could very well set the tone for the remainder of the 2024 season – for both teams. How so, you ask? A legitimate question. Although Dave Roberts‘ Dodgers currently hold a relatively comfortable 6.5-game lead over Mike Shildt‘s Padres in the NL West, should the unthinkable happen, that lead could be down to 3.5 games by Sun ..read more

Yamamoto Dominates Marlins

With each successive outing, the 12 year / $325 Million contract given to international superstar right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto seems to sting Dodgers fans less and less; after all, it’s not our money, right? (Ticket, parking, and Dodger Dogs prices notwithstanding). On Tuesday night in front of a Dodger Stadium crowd of 51,496, the 25-year-old Bizen, Japan native, who the Dodgers signed to that free agent contract on December 19, 2023, had what was by far his best outing to date against the visiting Miami Marlins. In his 8.0 innings pitched on Tuesday night (joining Tyler Glasnow as th ..read more

Buehler Gets (A Lot) of Help From His Friends

It’s what every Dodgers fan has been waiting almost two years for – the return on 29-year-old Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler‘s following his second Tommy John surgery back on August 23, 2022 and his first Major League appearance since June 10, 2022. It went well for the Lexington, KY native and Dodgers first round draft pick in 2015 out of Vanderbilt. As expected, Buehler was on a strict pitch count, making a total of 77, of which 49 were for strikes in his 4.0-inning return debut. But what wasn’t expected was him hitting 98 mph with his fastball. “I know Walker fed off the emotion of the ..read more

A Generational Player
Think Blue LA
by Ron Cervenka

Just as Babe Ruth was for our fathers and grandfathers, and Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, and Don Drysdale were for us ‘veterans’ (old) fans, we are blessed to be witnessing yet another generational player before our very eyes and ears. There is zero doubt, none whatsoever, that 29-year-old Dodgers designated hitter (and occasional pitcher) Shohei Ohtani will one day join these and many other baseball immortals in the sacred Halls of Cooperstown. But until that day comes, please, please do not miss out on watching (or listening to) our generation’s generational player – regardless of who your fa ..read more

Friday night’s exciting 4-3 Dodgers win over the (now) National League East second place Atlanta Braves will forever be remembered as ‘The Andy Pages Game.’ Not only did the 23-year-old La Habana, Cuba native continue his torrid hitting by going 4-for-5 in Friday night’s 11-inning contest, he also gave the Dodgers their first walk-off win of 2024 in front of a frenzied Dodger Stadium crowd of 50,859. “It’s a signature moment with a blown-up pen.” – Former Dodger and current Dodgers broadcaster Eric Karros (SportsNet LA) “For me, he’s stabilized our lineup,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts sa ..read more

Andy Pages is Here to Stay
Think Blue LA

The Dodgers have played 33 games thus far into the 2024 regular season. Twenty-three-year-old La Habana, Cuba native Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages has appeared in 14 of them and is 16-for-55 (.291), with five doubles and three home runs, which ranks seventh and sixth on the team respectively. He has also driven in 10 runs and scored 12, which ranks seventh on the team in both categories. In the simplest of terms, Andy Pages is the real deal and is here to stay. (Sorry, Triple-A OKC [not sorry]). During Wednesday’s 8-0 pounding of the NL West fourth-place Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, Pa ..read more

Dodgers beat writer Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic posted this on social media following the Dodgers 8-0 pounding of the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Wednesday night: Walker Buehler‘s Back! (LA Dodgers) Needless to say, the return of the 29-year-old Lexington, KY native and Dodgers first round draft pick in 2015 out of Vanderbilt University to the Dodgers starting rotation ranks right up there as the biggest – and best – news of the team’s seven-week-old 2024 season.
